Rolex Daytona 24

Anyone watching this race today/tomorrow? its going to be live on fox from 3-430pm, then speed takes over coverage for the other 22.5hrs. the GT class has some rx8s competeing. three teams, Speedsource (who have taken home a class win at this race i think in 2007) with two cars entered. dempsy racing, with patrick dempsy of greys anatomy as team owner and driver. also note that dempsy racings entry is sponsored by mazdaspeed. lastly there's racer's edge. with the great history in endurance racing for the rotary, this should be a good race. everyone should tune it...there is 24hrs to watch and its usually all exciting. i'll be glued to the TV for most of today and then tomorrow for the end. also, dont feel like theres no point in watching because you wont watch it all. they do recaps of all the action often. lets hope one of these three teams can bring home a win for us. haha. im routing for speedsource. they've already won once, and this being the season opener it could be a ncie boost for the team to help them through the rest of the season. however, there are a ton of porsches entered this year...and before speedsource broke their chane of victories, porsche had taken the gt class 15 years in a row. this promises to be pretty interesting for the 4 rx8s in the field. also, there is the DP (daytona prototype) class running as well. no rotaries in there, but they are always good to watch.

I'm watching it now. Sadly, the RX-8's are not in contention.

ya, its been a pretty rough race for speedsource. even just now, they had it in the pits with a cracked header. seems like murphys law is in full effect this time for them. the 69 car is in 9th in class, and 25 laps off the lead in class. i really doubt they could bite away that much in the remaining 4 hrs though...oh, also, the racers edge car is in 13th in class. we also have another team in 22nd...i think it might be the dempsy racing/mazdaspeed team. they've had an eventfull race as well

What was with Sylvan needing to change a fuel cell? I didn't quite catch that part of the race.

He dropped a tire off the track on the inside of the bus stop, barely (1/4 in i think) gashing the cell, but enough for it to not hold fuel.

what a shame. the 69 and 70 car were making laptimes on par, if not better than the top runners in GT, but with murphy's law in full effect, it just didnt happen for them. still a great effort from speedsource and not bad finishes concidering all their issues and the gay 8600rpm rev limiter. oh well, the rest of the season is still ahead of us. good luck to speedsource, dempsy racing and racer's edge for the rest of the season.

i watched some of it, including the last hour. go brumos! however i would have liked to see more of the rx8's that where racing. it was easy to spot them when they were on screen, they were the only cars shooting flames all the time! :P

you saw alot of the 8s during the first 20 mins before it all when wrong for them. some very good shots onboard. one dashmount or roofmount, i forget now. there was also a really cool shot down the side of the car towards the back at night. you could see the car spitting fire every shift. it was really cool.
