In another thread people were talking about a lack of RX-8 sightings in BC.
I have been looking for a month, but hadn't seen one here in Vancouver... until yesterday.

I was walking down Robson street, and a Silver RX-8 with (optional?) side skirts and leather interior passed me. It ran into some traffic a ways up and I was able to catch it on foot.
It looked amazing!
The woman driver pulled over to park and I had a better look at it.
I wasn't the only one interested either.. about 3 other guys came up to take a look, and just about everyone who passed by was eyeing it.
There was a porsche parked in front of it, and a vette driving by, but all eyes were on the Mazda.

For anyone who hasn't seen one in person yet-- don't judge it by it's pictures. It looks much much better in RL.

Also, a friend spotted a winning blue in burnaby, and a coworker saw a black one on Hwy 1.

So they're here~!

Only one negative to mention, and I know it's been said before...
it was way too quiet. I love the sound of the second and third gen rx-7s, but I could barely hear the RX-8 and I was right beside it. Maybe I would have to have a listen at higher revs..

Anyone else seen or own one in BC?

I totally agree that it looks much better in RL. But ........

I went to a dealer in Auto Mall 2 weeks ago and the sales rep. let me hop into a Silver GT. Since then I dream about driving it every night.............. so I should say "IT FEELS MUCH MUCH BETTER in RL".

Amazingly, I spotted a Silver 8 in Richmond the very next day ...... made me wonder if that's the one I seated in.

I ordered my by it won't be in until Jan.....

P.S. Has anyone in Van. successfully downloaded the "Techhighlights" CD from any source. I am so eager to watch it.

I ordered mine the next week I seated into the Silver GT 8. The rep. told me the ETA would be Jan.

I have been trying all the FTP sites and eDonkey link for downloading the Tech CD but can't connect to any of them.

Pre-ordered an automatic Winning Blue RX-8 GT with Moonroof/Nav. System early May! ETA: Sometime during October! My dealership not very informative! Didn't order any accessories!

Did you order your 8 here in Vancity? which dealership you at? We gotta have some kind of a Vancouver meet once we get our cars!

There is NO real pre-order program! Japan send cars over, and they match the specs according to the pre-order list! If you're lucky and you pre-ordered early, you get your car! Went down to three Mazda dealerships today! Saw a total of 4 RX-8s! Really was a good day today! I can't describe the car , there aren't enough words to sum up the beauty of the RX-8! All i know is that this car is dope! picking mine up next week, as I'm heading to Chiliwack tomorrow! Gosh, it feels nice to finally see and soon own the RX-8! And I must say, the new dealership i'm buying my car from is very , VERY informative!!!!!!

What does this mean? Are you suggesting that your dealer is gona cut open your car and install a moonroof?

If this is the case, I hope you get a hugh warantee with it cause its gona leak like a basket in a few years...

the dealership is willing to install the original moonroof at the original price because i told the dealer that i found 2 other RX8s available, but i disliked the fact that the other dealer jacked up price for putting a bunch of accessories onto the car! So in order to win me over, my dealer told his boss the situation and was able to get me a GT with moonroof installed! Though i don't understand why it would leak like a basket! Since he did confirm that the moonroof will be a genuine mazda installation/item! So how reliable is the RX-8s' moonroof? And what do you mean by it will leak like a basket cause aren't those who also has a moonroof on the same boat as me then? Or are you suggesting that my dealer is evil and gonna take it out to some 3rd party company secretly and install the moonroof and exclude it from the warranty altogether which i will no doubt reject it right off the bat!!? or is there a flaw in the design of the moonroof, cause i dont know, been out for 3 days in the woods and just found out about the huge Blackout! Cause if the moonroof is flawed, i can still call it off! The installation won't start til sometime next week, but i'm hoping it was a misinterpretation of my statement cause of how poorly i worded my thought!!

the car cost 46800 CAN with PDI

the car should cost 39595+1000for moonroof and + 3000 for navagation..
so comes to 43595 + PDI

how much is PDI?

Yes, that is too high. the car should be $43,595 + $105 for any colour other then black + freight & PDE $925. Did you add anything else like extended warranty, accessories?

2 weeks ago i spotted a black one on burrard and followed it from 1st to 16th with a few deft (or daft) maneuvers in my protege5, haven't seen another one since.

very nice car. it had the moonroof open and still looked great.

on another note i saw 20 miatas on saturday morning on the upper levels highway. just one big string of middle aged men with their toys.

What I was worried about was the dealer taking the car into a 3rd party shop and cutting a moonroof into it. Like you said, if thats what they are doing, tell them to **** OFF.

If you are getting the car with the factory installed moonroof, then their should be no problems what so ever.

i'm also in vancouver, and I "pre-ordered" like 2 months ago and they told me to expect my car around in 2004 January.
I ordered GT, sunlight silver, 6MT and no options whatsoever.

and like someone else said before, it's not really "pre-order" up here in canada, it's just whatever car comes in that matches the pre-order list specs then they'll notify us.

I want my 8 now!!!!
