Oh! I love the blue! I'm from Calgary and just bought my 8 too...all I gotta say is WINTER TIRES! are a MUST unless you want to end up in a 2meter snow bank, oh, and when it's freezing let it warm up for at least 10minutes. I learned that the hard way lol.
Enjoy!
oh, and GO FLAMES GO!
haha just buggin'

Hi scubanikki,
The RX-8 has Blizzak WS60 on alloy rims. (ordered from Tirerack)
Even with winter tires you have to be careful driving especially since the RX-8 is RWD.
The backend tends to slip if you give too much gas; I have been starting mostly in 2nd gear but yeah I have buses beat me from the stoplight.

These are the original rims.

My car is the dirtiest filthiest **** ***** bitch Natalia at the moment right now... you can't even touch a square inch of her body without getting your fingers dirty!!!

I sprayed washed it with water to get the salt off on Saturday; then more snow came on Sunday, and it was over.. after a day of driving, she looks like complete crap now...

hopefully that 4 layers of wax underneath is doing its job

STUPID!!
someone PLEASE tell my 3 really good reasons that this car kicks *** so I can feel better about selling my truck ..

reason 1: drive the car, you'll get it
reason 2: look at it
reason 3: drive it again

lol

but seriously, the car looks amazing. handles better than 90% of the cars you will come across on the road and its unique. yes its quirky. but every car has its quirks. these ones can be shrugged off with a redline beep that will always put a smile on your face. its not confidence inspiring in the winter...but thats only a few months. lol. once the sunshines, so does the car. and thats cool taht its on the 101 cars you must drive list.

Welcome to the club Black Hatch! and your new addiction!
Snow tires are a must on this car... or better yet (like me) park you car for a couple weeks while winter passes through (Advice assumes you have BC climate haha).

Anyways, you will positively love this car, especially with the wealth of information found on this website, and the knowledgeable people here to help you!

A brand new, awesome sports car is not a wise purchase. A Toyota Yaris is a "wise" purchase. Since all vehicles depreciate over time, a cheap little thing, or an older used car has very little to loose.

Tell your friends to buy a "wise" vehicle.
After 10 years of depreciation they will have a car that looks like a budgie kicked in the pants, and you'll have.... (*Grinning from ear to ear*) well I guess you'll still have a rotary rocket RX8, (a car that continues to thrill you 10 years later).

Don't know about you, but it was the best "stupid" purchase I've ever made! and I'd go back in time and do it again!!

Cheers!

Hmmm. I like I was going to get a Toyota Matrix.. but (no offence to those who have one) I didn't want to drive around in a car that reminds me of a loaf of bread. *oops, my bad, did I say that...*whistles*
I will stick with my 8-- and still somehow find a way to make it unbeatable during winter- muhaha

when you figure it out, can you tell the rest of us?

and yeah, i used to work for toyota...the matrix (new and old) is a god awful car. riddled with problems (not the usual toyota quality if you ask me) hideous and way underpowered. the new ones arent as underpowered, but they are uglier than ever and full of blind spots. i can deal with blind spots in my RX8 because its worth it. the car looks good enough to make it worth the price you pay in side and rear visibility (which actually isnt that bad IMO). but the matrix is so ugly, it has no excuse for the blind spots other than to help you hide inside so no one you know sees you driving it. lol. i too am sorry to anyone that owns one. this is obviously just my opinion and experience with them.

Merry Christmas all.

Nikki, since Im not doing much, mind if I visit you? (only 300km)
Just kidding.

RX-8 #8 in this recent comparison
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carrevi..._2008/archive/
and of course in Edmunds and Car & Driver, the RX-8 usuallys comes on top of the Nissan 350Z.

Thanks for stealing my thread.

I have a certain fondness for the Dodge Dakota as I had used it as a work truck 3 years ago.
In regards to the Matrix comparison, 4 years ago I opted for a Mazda6 hatchback instead of the Matrix. The Matrix is ugly inside and outside.

PS: I have winter (Blizzak WS60) tires.
