Scarboro Mazda

I just picked up a new Mazda3 to become my winter car/daily driver when the lease on my RX-8 is up. I did a good bit of shopping around locally, but also sent out a quote request to Alan at Scarboro Mazda (#84racing on this forum.) Right out of the box, he sent me a great quote, much better than I was offered in Ottawa. It was enough to make it worthwhile for me to hop on the greyhound to pick it up in Scarborough and drive it back to Ottawa. The whole experience was low-pressure, zero bullshit.

While I was there, I also got to see the racecar (actually two of them - one is in the process of being built) and talked to Alan a while about racing, lapping and cars in general. Very cool guy to talk to.

Thanks very much Alan - very satisfied customer here.

Thanks Mark I really appreciate the comments! Always happy to help a fellow enthusiast! Btw, there was a 2008 Z06 at the track yesterday, much faster than a Porsche..................(lol) Thanks for all your help and waiting around to help me load the race car on the trailer! Hope your drive home wasnt too long.

Talking A very special dealership - no not the retard ones!

Short version: Scarboro Mazda is THE place to go for your Mazda needs.

Long version:
The story started 5 years ago. I was very interested in the Rx-8, and was thinking of getting one. The first and last stop I went to was Scarboro Mazda. Their sales person at the time was not that good at all. End of story.

Fast forward five years and many recalls later. I was very interested in the Rx-8, and was still thinking of getting one. The first and last stop I went to is Scarboro Mazda. Their sales person at the time was not that good at all. He doesn't even know how to set the clock in the Rx-8. End of story.

So whats the difference here? The difference is, after five years of research and reading and tons of personal life drama, I realized that life is not about numbers, achievement or salary, its about doing what you love and be good at it.

It applies to driving as well. To me, driving is NOT about fuel economy and straight line **** fights, its about getting comfortable and be one with the car when you drive. I love the lateral Gs when I execute highspeed turn in highway ramps; I love the perfect tone when you do a flawless heel and toe; I love the Zoom Zoom sound when you are enjoying the smell of cow **** while driving by the country roads scaring the cows themselves.

And that's exactly what the sales person in Scarboro Mazda showed me. No, not the cow shxt. He introduced me to the Rx-8, drove me around with it(in this case, doing 80+ on Lawrence on-ramp), even offered me to drive it alone. He may not know how to set the damn clock in the Rx-8, but he can tell you how he screwed up his transmission in the racecar and fixed it in an all nighter effort. He has TWO custom built (well one is still in a IMSA skeleton...) rotaries monster for his weekend racing duties, and you can see them just at the dealership. Its beautiful.

You see, when the general manager of a car dealership showing you the clip of him racing the day before in Shannonville on the showroom floor, you know you're at the right place as a car enthusiast. You won’t give a shxt about the fact that he cannot set the damn clock in Rx-8. But he can tell you all the technical details of Rx-8, how to take good care of it, the proper way to drive the car by showing it to you, and being genuine and honest from start to finish.

And then there are the mechanics. One is a young hot-shot who love modified cars and has already showed the power of his passion by solving a mysterious rotary engine-related problem that even getting a new engine cannot solve. There is also another mechanic who was with the general manager’s race team for the last 4 years.

So, there you go, another thumbs up to this very special car dealership...

The only thing missing now is probably about Tofu delivery aka, D1 drifting setup with a 3 rotar...who knows, maybe I will see that video one day...

I bought my car off Al without even seeing it, only going by his word.
When I got there, the one climate control **** was broke, so he replaced it immediately, and gave me a walk around the shop as well.

When the car is paid off, I will deff. look forward to buying a new mazda through Al again.

Its too bad the Sales staff (the one tech is a diehard rotary guy, and offers great service) at St cats mazda wasnt this good!

Like I said guys it was my pleasure. It is so much fun to deal with people who appreciate cars and be able to talk about what the cars are capable of. I am lucky because our brand tends to have more of those buyers and not people who think of cars as another "appliance".

No wonder you don't know how to set the clock :P...

Should hire me as a Clock specialist!

btw, thanks for the touch up paint, but the car wash guy said there are tons of dirt in the cockpit...I guess because it has been sitting for awhile...oh well.

btw, do you have pricing for the R3 sideskirts yet?

Thanks!

I saw eibach pro kit in the parts department. But I have decided to go with the Tein S-techs for the better looking drop.

Its up to you what you go with, from my experience with a street driven car the Eibachs are the way to go. The ride quality in most cases are better than stock with great looks and an excellent improvement in corning and stability.
