Shannonville Track Days - 2006 Holiday Schedule
imagemotorsport.ca is holding track days at Shannonville on the holidays - days
May 22, 2006
July 3, 2006
August 7, 2006
October 9, 2006
$140 prepaid, $160 at track
Requirements? - Apparently nothing - You pays your money, You takes your chances.
Zoom Zoom.
Sub 1:20 on the Pro Track with an 8??
I'd like to see what times a turbo 8 with street tires and stock suspension pulls off.
I believe the stock 8's are around 1:23-1:25
#84 is under 1:18 I think.
There are plenty of gutted and duct taped civics in the 1:20 range.

Looks quite interesting. I want to get a little more mileage on the 8 before I track it, but possibly on the July long weekend. Any experience with these events in the past? Is there passing allowed, or is it just single file with a time gap?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Rules?
There are no stinkin' Rules.
Passing allowed.
Two wheeled Turns if you want.
Off Road excursions - Intentional or Non-Intentional
You are paying to have a track available for your use shared with others.
There aren't that many cars on the track so you can be out alone quite easily.
I'd say there are about 20-25 cars on the track max at a time.
Here is my take on it.
Everyone is going the same way (Barring any incident)
Sightlines are great - there are ZERO blind turns, and the track is farmer’s field flat.
Speeds aren't that different.
Anyone who has paid this kind of money is more of an enthusiast than the average driver.
I would rate it as safer than driving hard on public roads.
Blind Turns, Animals, Oncoming traffic, Unknown road conditions - Frost Heaves, Debris.
The only thing I can comment on is to watch out for the flying stones kicked up by huge R-Compound tires.
Lead – never follow.

Mmm. I have good memories of Shannonville, flogging around my <cough> old Civic <coughcough>. Nice track. Easy to drive on, WIDE run off areas (well, except for the bits with the concrete barriers near the pits, but you should be taking it easy 'round those parts). They keep the track pretty well kept during the summer; stay on line, and you won't eat stones.
If you think of it more as a time trial or a lapping session rather than a race, then you'll likely get yourself into less trouble. If you're all bringing 8s, then the power differential disappears and it all comes down to the driver.
Passing is easy in a bunch of places on the track, but obviously, easier in certain places. Unless your 8 is a trackday car, be leery of swapping paint with people (plus, your insurance won't cover it). Be nice out there - everyone's out to have a good time.
Oh, and if you're going in July, bring +++ fluids and snacks - Shannonville is sort of in the middle of nowhere, and the sheltered areas are meh.
