I have no other expenses tho, I will not be paying the insurance and I might get my dad to pay half of the monthly fee and let him use it anytime he wants.

I would never flame anyone for asking an honest question.
I sorry but you really can't afford this car. Just call your insurance agent and ask what the going rate is for a 17 year old with a $40,000 sportscar. You'll be shocked.
When I was 17 (many years ago) I bought a new 1986 Trans Am. My dad helped me out but my insurance was over $2000 a year back then. I really couldn't afford it and in the end had to sell the car.

My suggestion as a 27 yr old, only making 28k a year, I can manage it, and I have rent, nisurance, bills, and everything else associated with it. As long as you do some research to make sure you can afford all that you want for it, then go for it, you only live once (unles you believe in reincarnation) and you have to enjoy it, if you pass it up, and regret it later, you may not get another chance to have the car you truly wanted.

why is that hard to believe, my buddy used to make 22k a year working 3 days a week at a plywood plant.
Just because he is young doesnt mean he cant make money, its just a matter of managing his time and school.
Come on, look at how many people out there younger than us make tons of money doing things that we dont know how to, and how many 15 year olds make websites and sell them and make 5 times as much as us in a month, its sick, but its reality.

A 17 year old making 30k a year likely has more disposable income than an adult making 90k a year. So age really isn't a factor, it's cost of living. When you're staying with parents, you have no utilities, no housing costs, no kids to support.
He could likely buy and pay off his RX-8 faster than I could.
On the other hand, if he were smart, he'd be focusing on something other than an RX-8 at that age, but that's another discussion entirely.

Hey Rohit, when I was in school way back in the day, I worked full time after school, and was making honor roll every other term.
its possible, but its not easy, unlike me, at least he is planning on using that money wisely, I was a comic collector then, so, a waste of money, hehe

This is a common mistake alot of young guys make (I was guilty of the same when i was younger). As soon as they make a lil bit of cream its gone like the wind.
Dude...don't force owning this car. If you force it like that you won't enjoy it as much as you should. Put it this way....If you can't afford the insurance, the payment, the maintenance fee, a mortgage, misc living expenses and still have some money every month ( some to save, some to spend) without breaking the bank...Don't do it. A machine like an RX8 is one that should truly be enjoyed without un-needed encumberances.
If you are making that kind of money, SAVE some and INVEST the rest! If you need a car...just get a beater. By the time you are 24/25 yrs old, you'll be able to get a nice place and a nice ride...and at that age is when you need that stuff the most....Thats when you really start living....You'll really be big pimping then. However at the age of 17, its not worth your while to try to pimp it, mainly because nobody expects anything out of a 17 yr old kid. You can go on low budget and still have nuff fun, get girls and just enjoy life.
I wish i had someone to tell me that when i was your age.

Why do people insist on asking US if they should buy the car? If you think you like it, test drive it. If you test drive it you will either love it or hate it. We can't help you make your decision. If it's a matter of if you can afford it, that's none of our business.
Most people would never tell anyone how much they make, unless maybe they were asked directly or it was a close friend of thiers.. Why put yourself at risk ?
Now, having spoken my mind..
I really believe that more people should enhance thier writing and communication skills. The original post could have been written in a manner to aquire more information without eliciting strong reactions from its readers.
There are already many threads discussing the pros and cons of the 8. Even if one chose not to read these other threads, better questions could have been asked instead. In truth, only one question was asked. "Should I buy this car". No one can answer this question for the poster.
I feel maybe there are other questions or concerns that the poster has not asked.
Try asking specific questions, instead of devulging your life's story.
We don't need to know your age or how much you make. Yes, you probably make some people jealous, come off as being arrogant, or even a liar.
For future posters reading this, If you want to know specific things about the car, please ask the right questions. Clouding the mind of the reader with emotional reactions will not help you find your answers. Please give some thought when you are making a serious post. This is not an english class. However, the ability to communicate is VERY important if you want to be understood.
Finally, congratulations on being successful at an early age. You have many options. You should sit down and figure them out with the guidance of someone more experienced, such as your parents. If you should decide to get the 8, congratulations on that too.
Now, time for me to go back to writing meaningless drivel!

The cold hard reality of it is that MOST 17yr olds have no idea what a 5 or 6 year note feels like. You may not have any bills now, but what about when you are 21? Remember, your note will be for at least 48 months. If you do get in there and the finance guy tells you to go 60 months, say no thanks. If you truly do have alot of advantages (only bill), pay it off as soon as you can: 48 months.
