I have a 06 8 with mazdaspeed bodykit, exhaust, cai and I'm getting my turbo installed at the end of the month by RPM. I don't know if i want to lower the car because i previously owned a 97 plelude that was highly moded and it was to low that i could not drive over a speed bump without it rubbing. My 8 is already low with the ms front bumper that i don't want the same problem what should I do for springs.

Definitely lower it. Looks a lot better. Go with Tien S Tech springs. Gives a great drop and no issues over speed bumps...

You can use Racing Beat springs,it 'll drop only 0.5 inch and you will have better suspension than stock.

hmm....is yours a GT or a GS? Im loweing mine because its a GS and it rides like a 4x4, but if i had a GT i probably wouldnt. well, thats not entirely true,im lowering mine because i blew a strut and figure i may as well do all 4 struts, and then figured its now or never for different springs. andrew and marc know how high my car rides, especially in the front. the wheel gap is aweful. it was nice for the winter though. the truth is lowering springs are pretty cheap IMO, so may as well give it a shot if you arent happy with the ride height. just know how slow you have to go over bumps now. also, do alot of research before you buy some. look in the "hey look lowering springs" thread. its a really good gauge of how low cars sit with different springs. and for the love of god, when you pick up your car from RPM, come take me for a ride before you go home. lol. I live near them.

I drive a '06 shinka, and when I bought this vehicle used, the undercarriage (actually the two support rails on the side of the car) were scratched significantly right before the rear wheels. Right now I can't go over some of the speed bumps around the city, so if you lower it, you'd either A) be very careful when going over speed bumps and make sure your car won't scratch the undercarriage or B) avoid speed bumps like the plague.

Sure it looks nice to lower the 8, but not very thrilling when your undercarriage gets scratched every now and then.

The stock ride height of this car barely clears the code in the parking lots. If you lower the car as little as 0.5cm, your bumpers will be crashing into everything. Why screw up a good thing? Leave it alone and buy better shocks instead.

FYI, Dave at Mazdees has a set of RB springs in stock that he wants to unload. Seems motivated, so make him an offer, definitely don't pay list.

I say you should lower the front 1.5inch and the back .75inch and it will look pretty good. But with the mazdaspeed bodykit the car already looks pretty damn low.

I am lowered 1.2" and I have the mazdaspeed kit and I have never hit anything. The front sits 4.5" off the ground. The only problem is that I need some low clearance ramps otherwise I have to drive onto a wood block to get a jack under the car.

I am currently going from the the tokico dpecs and tokico springs to the KW variant coilovers and I am rasing it up a little, probably 1"/.8" just to be a little safer.
