Mosport gets my vote.
Any way you look at it - even shannonville you can write off a car by doing something stupid - although it would have to be EXTREMELY stupid.

Sure you can run into a wall at Mosport. But you are lapping to your limits - it isn't a race. You still want to be able to drive home.

You can do the same thing on the street by hitting an unseen oilpatch mid corner as well.

I would have to guess that driving on a track surface will be a hell of a lot more consistant than what you expereince every day on your favorite twisty road. Everyone on the track will be travelling at close to the same speeds, and hopefully in the same direction.

Track Day - Best way to blow $500 ($200 track, $180 gas, $100 tires, $20 brakes - mileage may vary)
I calculated over 29L/100km at shannonville.

The 8 is a very forgiving car in stock form. Unless you have done something stupid with the suspension geometry or carrry 500lbs worth of car audio in your trunk you should be ok.

Any of you guys got vids to share of trackdays in your 8s of these locations to give us southerners a flavor of your choices? You just might entice some of us up there one trackday if we knew more of what we'd be getting into

Track lines vary in grip greatly, but this isnt a racing thread. My big thing is having seen a skyline, almost 3 fc's, and a couple ofther nice cars smack the wall when you come over the hill there, right after the pits. everything else is cake, as far as dangerous goes.

Video of corner, and a spin, very close. Right click only plz, as posted by original user on the rx7 club, Balzz.

I agree mosport is awesome, but anyone who races there will tell you its a fast track, with a lot of dangers

Thanks drift, nice vids Wow! An Insight tracking? Cool, thought it was awful quiet...not bad though. That guy was way hot going in on that off-camber corner - one lucky fellow as the world spins around him Shannonville traffic looked worse than commuting and peps inches from the track - scary looking! Mosport was very nice looking .. too bad that guy had such slow-in-corners traffic, but definitly a-place-on-the-list. Cheers.

The rx-7 has minimal work done, with a bridge he easily would have smoked the other cars. The video's dont give an idea of the changes in height ( dont know how to say it) but it really is like a roller coaster. I rode in a pretty beat 2nd gen rx-7 and it was a really fast track. That same day I watched some of the Gt spec cars (or something like that) including a couple older porcshes, a ferrari, lots of M3's and a sick *** V12 jag, that looking like it was just doing pacelaps. Everyone in a while the guy would stomp on it for the crowd, car was crazy loud.

I would be in for Cayuga Lapping. That course is real nice, and has lots of run-off area.

Truely. I hear laguna is wayyyyy more crazy, but then again, the US has alot more tracks that are easier to get on, and everyone makes way more money. I went to rotorfest 3 years ago, and even hoda part guys were making 17 bucks an hour to start.

Hi all. I am new to the Club altho I got my RX-8 back in May 2006. Nice to meet you all.

My is the 2006 special edition (wine red with white leather/alcantara interior). I've installed the RB test pipe and K&N drop in filter.

I am interested in going to track days as well. I live in Richmond Hill (GTA), so Calabogie would be a bit far for me, but I would love to try Mosport (big track). I heard its scary tho. I usually go to Shannonville and Mosport DDT with my MazdaSpeed Protege, and has only been to Shannonville with the 8, so any track would be fine for me.
