Sweet Merciful Crap...MY CAR!

Left work last Thurs. and noticed an old busted up Merc parked a little too close to my 8. It was raining and I didn't notice any dents or scrapes. Thought I got off lucky....my mistake. The next morning I could see it from a mile away...a golf ball sized dent and paint scratches on my passenger rear door. Two days later I leave work and some other tool decided my driver side was too aerodynamic and put a twoonie size dent in my front door right in front of my handle. Has anyone here dealt with their mazda dealership for anything similar? My concern is whether or not they can repair it with out any noticeable difference between the damaged areas and the rest of the door/paint job. Thanks Guys ...later.

My condolences,

These kind of things happen, they're horrible painful, but they happen. I had a scratch that I had inflicted upon myself, but I had it fixed at a body shop in Marham and no one can tell the difference. The shop is called Velocity, ask for Barry 416-543-4777 he's at 12 heritage rd unit 3-4. It cost me $200 to fix the scratch, small dent and repaint the area. He got it done in the same day. Hybrid-RX8 introduced me to this guy. He'll give you a free estimate, so you can shop around if you want to. He's located near Markville Mall. I hope that helps. I'll seeing him in the spring, got a nasty scrap on the bumper due to underground garage fiasco. Since it's made of plastic, no need to worry about rusting. If you need anymore details PM me.

I just had my passenger door fixed...can't tell it was even touched. I removed all the trim and the front bumper myself....to avoid the body shop habit of masking things they should really remove. They blended and recleared the front fender because the damage was on the leading edge of the door.....looks great. Find a good body shop, and warn them up front that you are very picky....usually works :D

It's remarkable how advanced the body shops are these days. If they can fix my huge hit&run dent and scratches, they'll take that small dent in your 8 out with ease.

Just a word of advice.... if paint is involved, and if they suggest painting the entire panel it's probably a good idea. With the clear coat paints these days it's difficult to make perfect blends.

You should really try paintless dent removal if at all possible . . . e.g. http://www.autodentist.ca/ Over time I find you can see even really well painted sections, it bugged the heck out of me on one car. The workmanship was impeccable but in some light the panel looked a slightly different shade. Also if you ever trade the car, dealers have an electronic gadget kind of like a stud finder that can measure the the depth of the paint. If they find any repainted panels that will knock a big chunk off the value. Food for thought . . .

Anyone know of any shops that do paintless dent removal in the Long Island, New York area? Would be 516 or 631 area code...

From experience, does anyone know of they can work this way on a tiny dent on the front fender flare? I have a minor (1 cn max) unchipped dent on the driverside fender flare, not on the crease of the fender, but on the rounded area. Would much prefer not having new paint work on a 2 week old car..

Yes, PDR is a lifesaver. I had 3 dents vertically aligned on my passenger door thanks to a careless parker allowing the wind to force his door out of his hand. My car was 3 weeks old at this point. It was a pitiful sight. The PDR guys that service all of the local dealerships worked on it for an hour, and my door looked absolutely flawless afterward.

Ask the guys at the dealership parts counter who does their PDR work. Or better yet, ask at the Mercedes parts counter. I can just about guarantee that they all have PDR contracts.

The fender flare should be quite easy for them to get to - all they have to do is remove the plastic underliner, and they've got full access. For my door, they had to insert their tools through the window channel.

Dent and Paint

Hey guys,

If your looking for a dent doctor I can definitely recommend someone for you. I have a group of experts who run mobile so they will show up to your work as opposed to booking a time and driving to their location. Saves times for those wiht a busy work schedule.

If you do have paint damages, not to worry. It is always fixable especially in your minor case. Feel free as HObbes said to give Barry at Velocity and let him know Damon sent you. He will be more than willing to give you a great deal with a quick turnaround. Feel free to PM me if you need any help.

Thanks for the info. I will be looking into this next week. If I am lucky, I can get Mazda to foot the bill, since it was something that was there when I got the car, but didn't notice since it is so minor until I got home. Now all my attention seems to gravitate to is that tiny ding (I am sure you all know the feeling). If not, I will pay myself since I can't live with the blemish... I will post the results as soon as I get the job done..
