The stiffer suspension (including 19" rims with lower profile tires) of which you're aware.
Just keep the rev's up in the lower gears and you'll be fine.
btw: Reverse is purposely designed to be difficult to shift into, so just be sure you're actually in that gear.

You shouldn't need to rev to more than 2k to launch if you're just feeling it out... just to give you an idea. The ones I've driven had the friction point at the bottom yeah, but it's adjustable anyway. Don't worry so much though, it's a car, it's made to be driveable.. I'm sure you'll figure it out after a couple kms.

My brother and I took a nordic green 6mt out for test drive, he didn't really know how to drive manual, and I didn't know how to drive manual.
He stalled 7+ times at an intersect.
Light turned green...stall stall stall stall...until the light turned red...that was sad...
I told him to rev up to 4k and just drop the clutch next green light! And we finally got moving
Feel sorry for the demo car though...

oh man the drive was AMAZING
drove a black r3.
i got lucky the guy that came with me to test it was a 20 year old kid the dealership owners son
30 minute test drive no stalls. pretty easy car to drive.
we ended up taking it to the highway he told me to smash it give it a nice beating cuz it hasnt been beaten in a while.
pretty loud stock very underestimated in power.
the car isnt as slow as people think it is i did 0-60 in what seemed to be like seconds.
overall i enjoyed it and fell in love.
i know the rx8 i want isnt gunna handle like that due to the suspension in the r3 model but im sure its somewhat similar and the engine power is the same
hopefully i win lottomax friday and i can go pay cash for the r3 :D

People nowadays are overvaluing stats like 0-60 and quarter mile times. I'm not trying to defend the RX8's slowness on paper. But the mere fact is, while you're driving, it's hard to differentiate between 5 seconds and 6 seconds and yet again between 6 seconds and 7 seconds.
There's so much going on in that 1 second difference while driving that it makes it a moot point. Then there's also the matter of the skill of launching the car. That could easily be a 2 second difference for a 0 - 60 time.
It's all about the feel of the car, not numbers.

yes, but when carrying a 200 lb passenger, going uphill, and watching a lexus is250 whiz by you aint' exactly a great feeling...
the problem with the 8 isn't just acceleration... it's that we have no at-will punch when we need it... even after downshifting into 4th or 3rd...
