I got my third at 96,000 miles. Kind of odd that you are in a 2006 and live in a cool environment. Do you track a lot?

Jebus, thats rediculous.

When I worked at Mazda, I just finished replacing an engine with a re-man. It had a grand total of 30 mins idleing on my hoist, then when I went for a test drive, it blew up leaving the parking lot.

Apparently they were having quality control issues with the re-manufactured engines.

Yeah early on Catepillar was building them and QC was a problem. However, even engines from the Mazda plant have failed when newly rebuilt. A couple of our local guys got their cars back and were getting replacements again a couple weeks later. They are not new engines, they are using used parts so......

My second engine lasted 75,000. This one has about 28k on it but it has had the SOHN, no cat, BHR ignition, and has been premixed since day one.

Original went at 13K miles
New Mazda (Hiroshima) replacement went at 24K miles
Rebuilt (?) went at 48K miles.
I think I finally got a good one (Mazda Rebuild Facility in Virginia).
70K+ miles on the car now and the engine is strong.

I just got my engine replaced at 40k, but how do I know if it's a brand new engine or a rebuilt one?
