Snow is done hopefully. I just picked up a new set of tires for summer . I'd rather pick up all new tires then rotate the four summers I already have. You get too much understeer/oversteer if you rotate. IMO....

Picked up 245/40/18Z rated Falkens. Heard good things about them . I think i'm gonna put them on in a couple weeks.

Nice tires! I think I'm going to wait one more week before putting on the summers. Supposed to rain quite a bit later this week, so that should take care of some of the salt&sand left over from the winter.

I can't wait to get proper traction! Damn snow tires. :p

good call .... I'm doing the same. Except I don't have my car (in shop) . I really wanna wear down my winters becasue I won't be using them next year. I learned the hard way this winter. I'm going to store the 8 and buy a civic or something along those lines for the winter.

Yea I was debating wether to get a second small car for winter (Smart Car), but after I drove the 8 I knew that I couldn't go through the whole winter withought driving it.

So I bought a set of winters, and I'm glad I did, the car was wonderful in the snow!

I can hear the forks of the credit calling already. :D

its not just snow you have to worry about with the summer tires...its also how cold it is. Those tires do not work worth **** in cold weather.

I know, you just can't drive crazy on cold days.. Have to drive like it's a regular car

Avg summer tire needs 13 degrees and up in order to be fully functional .

I've been pondering this tire change as well. On the way into work today I redlined all the way to 3rd gear and at every shift my DSC light went on. I take it my winters are not gripping to well in this weather, heard today we may get flurries on Saturday. I think I may wait until 2nd week of April...maybe first.

HA! No way. Last year, I took the winters off at the end of April - a week later, we had more snow that lasted a few days, I had to put the winters back on. This year, I'll try late April again... but now? NO WAY! :D That's just tempting fate too much!

Regards,
Gordon

I stored my car for the winter. I'm taking it out tomorrow morning for the oil change and warranty work. I'm planning on driving it maybe on REALLY REALLY nice days. I have another car to drive when the weathers not good. I wouldn't recommend putting the summer tires on now if you rely on your 8 as an only vehicle. Wait until the end of April... middle of April if you must.

as hard as it is for me to drive a 1990 Celica for the winter while my 8 is parked away in the garage... the sounds system (IMO), is much better in the Toyota.

Wow, late April is longer than I want to wait. I know we've had some mid-April snow storms here in Detroit before, but I'm only going to wait 2 more weeks at the most, unless the forecast calls for snow. If a freak snow storm hits, I'll just have to hitch a ride with my wife or something.

I can't wait to put my summers back on. The WS-50s were fine as long as the car was driven relatively gently, but the sidewall flex got annoying after a while. I miss kicking out the rear without the car rolling like crazy. I'm hoping the Potenzas last me until next winter... after that I'll need to consider new tires.

PS: Thanks for the suggestion about buying a used OEM tire to replace my damaged tire! I bought a tire in very good shape from Phlash69 and it's mounted and ready to go!

Exactly what I thought when I woke up this morning, at least there has not been any accumulation, at least not here in Bolton.

A co-worker of mine put on his aftermarket 18's with summer rubber on his SRT-4 last weekend, and was trying to get me to do the same. boy am I glad I waited. He's stuck inside until this crap melts.

I'm probably going to wait until the 3rd week of April just to be safe.

The question of when to switch is why I have ordered the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S to let me put them on earlyier in the spring, and take them off later in the fall.

That combined with long tread life makes them attractive this time of year. That said, I am glad that I kept my winter tires on this week too, although it was just slushy here yesterday.
