Arrow Toronto Meet - Nov 13

Some people are having too much fun getting together.

Here are the vitals:

Saturday, November 13th

4:00 pm

Mississauga

Is good, yes?

(ps - look for an RX-7 (non-turbo) and an 8 having a friendly little run before things are over... :D )

1987 non-turbo. The weakest of the 2nd Gens. :D 146bhp when she left the factory. What I can tell you is this...

* Cold air intake that I built myself...
* Stock exhaust header, downpipe, 2.5" the rest of the way out (including pre-silencer and exhaust...)
* Other tweaking...
* New spark plugs as of yesterday...
* I've never done a timed run or a dyno run...
* Weighs about 2800 lbs with me in her (got her on a scale earlier this year...)

And one night this past summer I was driving across town with a friend in a lightly-modified AWD Talon (turbo'ed.) Without warning I punched it while we were rolling at about 60 km/h. He immediately jumped on it as well. He caught up to me, with his nose alongside my door... but he couldn't pass me. :D

It'd be a different ball game against the 8, of course. My redline's at 7k and the tach ends at 8k. Depending on the disposition of the 8's driver, they can shift later... Other than that, I suppose it comes down to rwhp and the drivers' ability.

it may be the weakest....but the non-turbo 2nd gens are arguably the most reliable ones to have. For sure i think driver would have a big impact, when i sort of race my buddy in the STI his car is clearly faster then mine, but the RX-8's high redline covers that up a bit by not having to shift as much.

Pete, you're a very busy person!!

I think I've seen you once since the first time I met you! lol

Don't worry about it... It's almost time to put the cars away anyway... They'll be plenty of meets next season!

As for the rest of you, I'll see you at the meet point!

Amur, Neo, Mic and Mike C all came out for the meet and it was a real pleasure to meet them again. Thanks for coming out guys.

Mic, sorry we lost you after the run and couldn't say bye in person. RX8 owners, you have to see both Neo's and Mike C's 93 RX7's. They are quite something.

Amur, thanks for the run. Great things are definitely coming your way. Your hard work and dedication to your RX7 is really something to admire. Input is equal to output, always!

Neo, many thanks for coming all the way from Aurora. We owe you one.

Genesis, I used to live on a street that faces Britannia between winston Churchill and 9th line. I have seen many drags from my front porch. Your right about the cops, there never is any there but note, there have been a few serious accidents at the intersection of Britannia and Grossbeak. Its a beautuful stretch of raod to open it up. I did it every day coming home from work!

Shamblerock,

Thanks for the kind remarks... Good to see everyone again. Unfortunately the weather is really starting to get cold... We would have stayed longer but I had people coming over to the house and it was getting dark already... Stupid weather!

Those winter rims are pimping on both of your 8's! I still can't believe you guys are going to be driving those cars in the winter. I'm sure it'll be a better winter car than the 7 but I wouldn't want to have the salt ruin the car like that....

Oh, by the way, that wasn't Mike C... It's Chris M... There are alot of Chris's who own 7's. Chances are good if you say Chris at least 4-6 heads will turn (Mine included... ).

That small run you guys had wasn't entirely what I was expecting, but considering the circumstances, I wasn't too surprised to see the 8 pull on the 2nd Gen. The Auto RX-8 is a bit underpowered and it's Automatic... The Manual version will always be the harder one to beat...

Lets see if next time we can have a meet where we can get something to eat and shoot the ****...

Facing Britannia between WC and 9th line? Very cool, I used to gun my car (a Mustang GT) on Britannia between Walkers and Cedar Springs. Best road to enjoy up there is Collin Rd...open it up mate I'm not talking about being wreakless, drive and take care, watch for others.

Neo, I'd love to have take part of a meet that involved a dinner. Chris M., please accept my apology for calling you "Mike C.". Too many handles to remember.

Next time Neo, we have to go up to your part of the woods for a meet to balalnce things out.

BTW, there's a Great Pizza place off Yonge just below #7 called "Dante's". Excellent Pizza but dam expensive. Nevertheless, best pizza I've ever eaten. Unfortunately, they lost their liquer licence a while ago. Still the palce is always packed and they deliver 1,000 pizza's a night on the weekend. Its an option next time around if you like good pizza without beer! (Can't beleive I just said that!??!!?!?

You know, I would like to have a meet near my area, but quite honestly there isn't much to do up here... That's why I head down to T.O. to do things...
But I'm sure I'll get something up and about up here...

I'm up for a Pizza... I've never heard of Dante's.. but if they do good pizza, I'm up for it!

Of course by then it'll be a winter meet... No more 7 till next season...

Looks like I missed another one, too bad, hopefully will make the next one. Perhaps a future meet could be at the Formula Kartways at Steeles and 410, we could meet, chat and run some laps.

Pete, I was ther @ 4PM and parked in the lot in front of Tim Horton's. All others came @ about 4:15 or so. Are you sure you were at the Timmy's on Erin Mills(Mississauga road) and Battleford which is south of the 401? Because aparently ther is another Timmy's on Erin Mills North of the 401 as well.
