i take mine to a coin wash, and bring a bucket and soap. Rinse the car in the coin wash, then wash the car with a wash mit and soap. Rinse the soap off, and just quickly dry it.....it usually ends up looking pretty amazing, for the winter at least...in sauga there is a coin wash on britannia just west of hurontario....its pretty good, but gets real busy.

Thanks Kart Racer.. i'll definitely check that out.. maybe this Saturday.. suppose to be decent weather.
i've never used one of those coin washes before... how much is it? and how does it work? is it by time for the hose?

I just wanna get the crap build up on my car... its annoying the crap out of me... although with the roads being salty and muddy, what can you do right?
hey also what do you guys do about the front of your car? do you have a bra? or the 3m stuff? or just bare? (maybe i should open a new thread?)

The coin-ops are about $3 for a high powered gun. You decide if you want to wash or rinse using a dial. It goes for about 3-4 minutes. If you are going to bring a bucket, go late at night because others will get pissed with you hogging the bay.
I am running bare. Don't like the bra at all and I heard its worse for the car because the dirt just sits there eating at your finish. 3M clear stuff is probably the best way to go and should be about $300. Too late for me as I procrastinated and now have a few souvenir chips.
There's another one coin-op on Thomas street just before Queen st. in Miss. right accross from the Streetsville Go station. And yet another on Mavis just north of Dundas.

I recommend going with the 3M tape. its clear and no one can really tell that you have it on. If you do a lot of hiway driving, then i recommend it highly, it has saved my paint already.

Thanks guys! Maybe i'll go late tonight for a wash... is it 24hrs? the one on britannia and hurontario
where can i get the 3m stuff? and is it difficult to put on? does it come pre cut for the 8 or do i have to outline it then cut it?

most coin places are 24/7. as for the 3m, contact trim line in brampton, they should be able to do it for you..why would u wanna waste your time. i think its like 350 or something like that. they already have it pre-cut for the 8 so its pretty easy for THEM to install
peace out

hahaha BB8guy you sounded exactly as I did when I first got my car.. DIdn't know how to wash it, where to go.. How to use the water gun, etc. I was actually intimidated to bring this car to a coin op and not able to properly wash it, or look like a fool It's not so bad, but try shell touchless. They work pretty good, do not goto Sunoco tho. The one by my house has the pressure set WAY to high and I get a lot of fluid going into my passenger footwell.
I was going to get 3m but never ended up getting it when i first got my car.. Was having to much fun driving it.. Ohwell.. Wait till the summer, that's when the real fun happens with the 8

The coin one off Britannia, is that close to Terry Fox Way and Mavis????
My car needs some serious water pressure to take that crap off the rear of it, it looks black, and am scared to open and close my trunk cause my hands get dirty

I think i'm going to wait til tomorrow or saturday to wash mine. Streets still pretty dirty.
Thanks Shamblerock, I totally forgot about the Thomas one

Ya the pressure is set way to high at the sunoco located at steeles and dixie. I think it's set to 1000PSI(didn't know at the time). Took my car through, got out of the wash and this green fluid was leaking into the foot well.. Brought it to the dealership and they said it could be coolant! I was like WTF. They checked out the car, couldn't find anything wrong. they said take it thru the wash again. did that, same thing, green fluid. I think it was actually soap that was being blasted thru the weather seals.. haven't had that issue with any other car wash cept this evil sunoco. So stay away from that one!!

damn.... thats crazy... lets hope it isn't your coolant..
i know this guy that bought one of the 1st RX-8s in Toronto, and just recently something blew up in his car and this whole glove box and part of the passaneger side was covered in OIL.
hey do you ever get the Check Coolant light come on? like just after you start up your car? sometimes mine comes on and stays on for a few seconds... i was thinking maybe because the car was cold... but it sleeps in my garage...

No coolant light. Check that out. You may want to turn the key half way, pause for 1 or 2 seconds and them crank. Maybe it need a few second to get the signal from the coolant sensor.

yeah thats what i've been doing now... turn it to the on position... let it beep a little... then crank it...
we'll see if it comes back.... man, after reading all the posts in this place, makes the 8 sound soo fragile... lol
