Toronto RX8 prices.

I'm looking for a GT and wanted to know if anyone has gotten a particularly good deal. I would preferably like to have the sunroof, but I'm not too fussy.

I've seen some people with outstanding deals on the board, but I think they're from Alberta, and taxes are much lower. So I'm looking for numbers from the Toronto area (or anywhere in Ontario really).

Anyone with a great "tax-in" deal? Would you be willing to share the price and dealer you got it from?

Many thanks,

Moses/Ryan.

PS. Happy to have joined.

Well, I'll probably buy next spring. No point getting it just in time for the winter and the salty roads. How are these things in the winter anyway, I wonder.

Yeah I thought of that too, but I am thinking of leasing and the interest rates on the 05 are 7.65% versus 2.9% on the 04. I don't thin those rates will come down by the spring on the 05 and if there are any 04's left then might not have a lot of choice left.

But I still have 10 months left on my current lease so if I don't get rid of it first its gonna cost a bit if I was to break the lease now with the dealer.

Oh well we'll see

As for winter driving no sure how it handles, I think it does pretty well with snow tires since it is a well balanced car to start with.

Moses ... before I left Toronto for Calgary, I was "getting a feel" for dealing, with dealerships in TO. I can't remember the name of the dealer or the exact address but it was the one near Major Mac (?) ... near the Toyota, Subaru (I think this was across the street), Mitsubishi, Acura/Honda, VW and Mercedes dealerships.

Anyhoo, I pretended to be interested in purchasing within a 2week period (back in June). I wanted a blue GT w/ sunroof (but was open to without). Basically I was down to about 43.5K all in for GT w/o roof and 44.5K all in w/ roof.

Well, when I got here (Calgary) ... I was at the about the same price (43K). Until I became REALLY stubborn (dragged out for a 6 weeks) and got it for 40.5K all in. I seem to remember reading that some of the fellows in Toronto got it for about 43K-44K.

I just did a quick calculation .... my pre tax price was about 37.5K. With GST and other fees (tire tax, etc) it's 40.5K. If you were to use my base price and add GST+PST, 43K or so is about right.

good luck!

Awesome, thanks Blue! I'll use your price as the basis for my dealings. Did you end up getting a sunroof?

I have a new family member (just married in) who works at a dealership, perhaps I can get one at a hair above cost.

Does anyone know what the dealer invoice on one of these bad boys is?

I didn't get a sunroof with mine.

Oh I believe that the invoice price in Canada is $36166 for a GT and about $915 extra for the roof. I can't remember who posted it but it was somebody in Ontario. Check the previous posts to see who exactly ... I just happened to write it down.

Awesome! So if I were to get it for dealer invoice (hypothetically) it would be $37,081 + 925 for the "freight"... $38,006 + 15%... $43,707. Then, when they're least expecting it, I whip out my degree and say "take that f'ers!!!"... and shazzam! I'm at $42,707. Then I throw the $16,000 from my prelude at them and cackle like the evil brat I am!!! MWUAHAHAH!!!

K, so probably not just like that, but I think you gist of how this will play out. Can't wait for next spring to arrive.

Test drove an RX8 today. It had 0.0Kms on it. And the engine light was on for our whole drive. Seriously there must've been something wrong with it, because my prelude is WAY quieter than the RX8 even at 7 years old. Also, when I got back in the Prelude I was amazed at how nice my old car still was. So smooth, and still quite powerful. If you have a younger sibling or something, a 1997 and up Prelude is a great sports car for not too much money.

Other than that, we loved it. The handling was awesome and despite the noises, the engine was killer. Fast without being scary. Hard to find the space in Toronto to really wind it out though.

I think we'll get one when the incentives are out on the 2005s. It's slim pickin's on the '04s now. Plus, I think I'd like to drive the new Musty-'tang before I buy.

Thanks everyone for your posts and help. Pete, shoot me your friend's info (as per my PM), I'll keep it on file as my mom's apparently looking too.

Are you guys on CRACK?

Sorry for the upcoming burn, but 1st-car, you got RAPED HARD!!! I hope that you bought the car BEFORE knowing about this forum. I have harped time and time again about the prices. Heck I even posted my invoice. Check the link
https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/price-toronto-42452/

I can understand if you bought a 2005 (dealers are less willing to budge) but if it's a 2004, it had better come with lasers, robot monkey-butler and bikini model.

Moses, I hope that your search is going well and that you'll eventually join us (just don't crumble too fast). Just as a reference, my 04 GT had 7km when I got it.

MyRX8 - I know your a dealer and that you need to make a living, but I think I speak for most forum members when I say that the price you are giving is high (assuming 04 GTw/moonroof). It's common knowledge that people in Ontario have been getting them for ~43K and even lower in places like Alberta (ie me).

I am feeling a little pissed off and not because of what I paid. I pissed off cause every time I go to a dealership I get ignored. The when I say I want to buy a car I have to convince them about it. Kind of takes away from your negotiating power. When I bought the 8 the saleman told me ethe base price and when I asked for a better price he said come back when you a ready to buy and I will tell you. Now me and my girl look at each other a little confused and I tell him "I am ready to buy". He still doesn't believe me. Finnaly I said "I want buy the car thats why I am here". SO we worked out this deal. I felt was a little annoyed when I left but I was happy to buy my 1st car. Despite the bad experience I am still enjoying the car.

By the way does anybody know what the dealer invoice is for a GT with moon roof??

I sound like a puppy If you seem me you won't say that. Most people I met at U of T thought I was the scariest looking guy they have ever seen.

I think dealers just don't believe that a guy who looks like me can afford anything more than a corolla. I have been in dealerships walked around looked at cars and walked out without a saleman trying to even help me. Something about my look. oh well

My girl advised me to save the money and buy a house. I said I will buy this and buy a house a little later. I said when she is done school and we are both working we will buy one. Took a little convincing and she thought I deserved it

READ THE POSTS ... check my invoice that I posted. I got it for 40.5K in Alberta. For Ontario price, add 8%PST to mine. You get 43K. OR ask other Ontario guys here that have also got it for 43K.
