Trading in my 8

The car is awesome but I opted to get a more "sensible" vehicle for a young dad like me.It was a great experience having the 8 but because I chose not to use it in the winter, I felt it was too much money to have focused on a toy solely for me.Anyway just wanted to share my story in the hopes of making my decision easier.

Why not get a set of snow tires so you can use it all year?

I didn't want to subject such a nice car to our harsh Canadian winters.Besides, my winter car costs about the same as a set of winters and rims for the 8.

But I bet it's not as much fun to drive . What are you going to replace the 8 with? Best wishes with your trade-in and new car.

Hey Murray

Sad to see that you're giving up the 8. What are the specs on your 8 because I'm still in the market for one. Where are you located? Can't hammer a good deal out with dealerships yet.

yeah, mine aint being stored for winter out here, no point... it would be for 2 days max, hehe

all you have to do, is watch out for the people who cant drive in light snow.... which unfortunately is a lot of people in the Van area

It's gonna be replaced by an '04 Odyssey.Talk about going from one end of the spectrum to the other!! I try to comfort myself by thinking that I would be driving my winter car for about 5 months of the year even if I had the 8.

Velocity red GT with sunroof.(My personal favorite) with only 7000kms.Mine has already been confirmed as my trade in but it seems from all the advertisements that one can pick up a new one for a pretty decent price since the '05 s will be out soon.

I'm in the market for a red GT with roof in the Vancouver area. Too bad you've already traded it in, otherwise, I'd be interested in buying it. Mind if I ask how much you got for it?

Don't worry, if you're a rotary nut like us you'll have another in the future, it's like a drug, once you've had it you're addicted. Good Luck.

Since I am trading in at end of year, I didn't get even close to what I expected.Apparently one can now negotiate a brand new GT down to about $38000 plus taxes. This really affects any trade in value right now.Every dealer I called gave me the same quote of $28000.Ouch.I finally got a dealer to offer me $29200.What helped a little more was the $4380 in additional tax savings.

Sorry, what I was getting at was what dealership did you trade it in at, so the other guy can go to that dealership and talk to them, maybe get a deal on it.

Oh I see.The dealer that I traded it to has already sold it to an independant used car dealer and I can no longer track where it is.
