Transmission issues...
#27
i've had the SSV stick two summers ago on my way to florida it would had a hard time reving over 7krpm but its seemed to of fixed it's self never had the issue since.
right now i have a cracked housing and a flickering display but other than that the cars been great. for some reason the 8 has never felt like a bad car even thu I've had to replace the engine twice and transmission fuel pump two clutches and a bunch of other things i think of as normal wear items like plugs coils and wires. i still love it and cant seem to find a car worth upgrading to.

Don't get me wrong I loved my 8 and I'll miss her, but after spending a small fortune I'd only improved it marginally. With the FD the sky is the limit, I figure it's a five year+ project and hopefully every improvement will be helpful not detrimental.
On Black Friday I did a little shopping for the FD at Pettit. Racing Beat Dual Tip Exhaust, TKT Cold Air Intake Kit, Power Pulley Kit, Trak Pro Suspension System Stage III's Coil-overs and a boost gauge with Petitt's column mount. All should be here before Christmas.
Also just finished refinishing the center console and also started repainting a R1 front lip which was red back to bumper black to keep the stock look of my 7. In the new year if the money holds up and the wife does not divorce me a Koyo N-Flow Radiator and associated sensors, hoses and thermostat, a Mazdatrix Short Shifter and a set of new shifter bushings. That should get me though till she comes out of hibernation.
Once it warms up install the rad, complete fluid change, SS lines, ST Swat Bars, this is all with no unforeseen complications.

If I don't see you before Christmas have a good one!

i love the 7 i just think i love the 8 more. the 7 i feel may be too old. i've also have herd debates how the 8 feels more solid on track. id love to spend sometime with one on the track, any chance of a 7 owner letting me take it for a few laps next track day?

Okay... latest development. So the car is away for the winter, took the battery out and I've let her hibernate. Anyways, I went down to roll it forward a bit to prevent getting a flat spot and now all of the sudden I can shift through the gears with no problem. The only difference since the last time I was in there was that the battery was removed.
What the hell?

bracket was cracked... and now they're saying that the throw out is makin' some noise and the clutch may need to be replaced.. will wait until the bracket is replaced to do a clutch test to see if I have to drop the money on that..
pllleaaaase be okay.

chris, often times as the pressure plate gets older, especially if it suffers through alot of stop and go traffic jams, the fingers on the diaphram spring become brittle due to the heat and whatnot. This causes the clutch to feel much stiffer than normal.
on alot of cars this will cause the slave cylinder seal to leak or blow out. rx8s are fortunate to have the weakest clutch pedal assembly i've ever seen. this prevents the slave from failing, however it causes the braket to fail.
if you still need the braket we talked about, hit me up. also, im almost certain i have good, almost new clutch master and clutch slave cylinders if either or both of yours are leaking because of the afformentioned pressureplate problem. it would be a good idea to buy a new seal kit for these if you need to use them, but thats cheap compared to a new slave or master cylinder.

Thanks Greg.. just had the pedal replaced today and everything seems to be back normal again. Looks like I might get to go down the 4.777 path after all
Hope to see you around at one of the larger meets this year dude...

blahhhh.... had some air get into the clutch line somehow after replacement. Was driving a long and **** hit the fan.. couldn't really shift. Mazda bleed the clutch line a bit and everything seemed better. Now I'm getting a massive squeak from what seems to be the slave cylinder and I'm starting to notice a bit of notchiness when shifting again.
I've got some SS lines that I'm going to install tomorrow.. We'll see how that goes.
