I decided to invest in the whole undercoating, interior, and paint protection thing. Figured I was already spending this much, may as well have it done.

That stuff is NOT from the factory - they are "installed" at the dealership, and (sorry, Parker8, this has been discussed here before - just search on "paint protection", for example) are a real ripoff - they are designed purely to generate obscene profit levels for the dealer, offer no real protection, and can be done by yourself with $20 worth of Canadian Tire products instead of the $500 the dealer charges you. A complete waste of money (again, sorry Parker8).

Regards,
Gordon

Like what Gord said ... dealer applied stuff sucks. Here's a similar thread that I started regarding protecting the 8.
https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/questions-about-protecting-8-a-42418/

I think in the end, the consensus was that clear bra is a must to protect from flying rocks, undercoating is a maybe and waxing is FUN!

No worries Gord, live and learn. I suppose I should have discovered this club before I bought my 8 and not after. I'm still new to Calgary and figured it would be a good idea because of the salt and road conditions in the winter. I'm originally from the coast and had I bought the car there, I would not have had it done. So to Soul flare, If you are in Vancouver I wouldn't bother.
I'm glad I bought here in Alberta, didn't have to pay 7% pst on top of everything.

Gord, could you send me the link for the thread where you talked about the clear bra you had installed and where in Calgary you had it done. My dealer tried to talk me into that as well. I didn't go for it as I have another car to drive when the weather is crap and the is in the garage. Now that I've read a little about it I'm reconsidering.
