Vancouver area on 12 August? Lunch?

In about two weeks my wife and I will be traveling thru Vanc. and up to Pemberton, where we'll hang out for a couple days lookin' at the pretty stuff.

Anyone going to be around for lunch on the 12th? We'll try and be in the greater Vanc. area around 11am, so we can get through seattle traffic before mid-afternoon. But - we'd have time to grab a pint and maybe take pics and whatnot.

Hi "dmp", I should be around town on the 12th. That is a Sunday right? Just let me know where and when you'll be here and I'll try to get a few other bcrx8 members out too. Looking forward to meeting you.

aight then - maybe somebody would take the lead in finding an eatery of some-sort?

I'll be coming down from Whistler area, thru Vanc, and then into WA. We love ethnic foods, and would eat most-anywhere

Thumbs up Korean BBQ House (This thread had it coming)

Hi DMP,

Always looking forward to meeting some new RX8 members!

Now it is up to master chief (burnaby rx8, and "him"), to call every one on this one, but I'm positive all of us would love to meet you.

If I am invited, (Master Chief, you knew this was coming! ) ok, so I know of this great BBQ place out by Lougheed Center (just off of the freeway) it's a Korean BBQ place that is always packed (something about: Damn good food). So, if I where to recommend a place to eat, I'd definitely recommend that place.

I'd love to go back again... hell I'd eat there everyday if they where next to my work.

That's my two cents...

There are a lot of EXCELLENT places to eat here, but I'll leave those details to the organizers.

Cheers!

Yes that Korean BBQ place is very nice... um how about Anton's on Hastings near in Burnaby. It may be a little less out of the way for our tourist friend coming down from Whistler.

We haven't had Korean food, best I can recall, since we left Korea in '98! Again - if y'all come up with a place I can find, we'll make it there regardless of the cuisine!

I would like to recommend Yoshoku-Ya in Downtown. (On Denman between Robson and Georgia.) (Here's a review: Link)

This place is not your typical Japanese place. They don't serve sushi. It's a Japanese steak house. They have nice Tonkatsu (deep fried pork chop) and Japanese beef curry. If you guys have never tried it, I definately recommend this place.

PLUS, this restaurant is on the way for you, right dmp? You wouldn't have to get lost in Burnaby or Coquitlam!

Thai food

Good friends of mine own and operate a Thai restaraunt also on Denman just south of Robson. Yes, very easy to get to off of the Lions Gate Bridge. They have offered to reserve seating for us and give us a good discount (not just for this but for BCRX8 at any time) Highly recommend their food.

Hey Tom that's sweet news. I love Thai food and it would be awesome to have them as a sponsor for our club. That sounds good to me.
btw Tom, how did the second bbq you had yesterday go?

Me like Thai too! And the discount sounds like a really good reason to go there on the 12th.

Is our guest of honour (dmp) okay with this?

Would love to come and join you all, but that is my one year anniversary, and the wife would kick my butt something fierce.
Have fun at lunch.

Thai restaurant

I have made arrangements to reserve tables August 12th.
We just need to know how many (roughly) and at what time.
Name of restaraunt is Khunnai Chang and they are at
835 Denman Street
map attached (I hope)

Can we give them a time as we get closer to it? I'm thinking I want to be home (south of Tacoma) by dinner time - think Pemberton is what? 2 hours from Vancouver? Hour -and-a-half?

The Sea to Sky will be busy on Sun PM.....so Lunch would be good. Traffic will be about 45min to border, about 45-1hr at the border...and about 2.5 hrs home....so You would want to be on the road by 2PM at the latest to be home 6-7PM

It's best to check the border cams...usually the truck crossing is better than Peace Arch.......but not always

Is there a hotline of sorts, so we could find the current status online?

I think Sunday early afternoon shouldn't be so bad in terms of parking, right?

Let's start a little signup so it's easier for thumb to make the reservations:

1) dmp
2) thumb
3) burnaby rx-8
4) Gyro-Bot
5) tiffalei
6) him

dannobre, you said, "call me". Does that mean you're in?
