Vancouver Cruise 2007 - Whistler, Lillouette, Duffy Lake
It's summer again! And I want to start planning for a drive out to duffy lake!
Here's a great webpage describing the drive (with a map): http://members.shaw.ca/bjs1/duffy_lake_loop.htm
As you can see from the map, it's a long drive, and will take the entire day. But it's hella fun and it's well worth it!!! The RX8 club here has done this in 2004 and 2005. Here are some links to previous drives:
2005 Official Thread: https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/vancouver-cruise-official-talk-57567/
2005 Pictures: https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/another-action-filled-west-coast-meet-60908/
So what do you guys think in terms of dates? If I propose Sunday, June 24th, 2007, is that going to work?
I'm putting down a list. If you're interested in the drive, put your name down! If Jun 24 doesn't work for you, then propose an alternate date beside your name.

wow sounds like fun! Too bad I'm heading up there this week already. June 24th would be too soon to go again. I'd love to do this loop though! Hmm...

Trust me. It's different driving with a bunch of RX8's. It's a lot more fun. Nothing is the same as doing this loop as a group. The look on other people's faces when they see our convoy... It's awesome. And having our cars in one of those group photos... man... You really have to experience it yourself.
I really hope you can make it out! Trust me. It won't be "too soon to go again".

I think he maybe implying that he's going there for his own and then going again with us will be "too soon". But "him" is right tho... it will be ALOT of fun to go cruising with a train of RX8s. Taking on those twisty roads, enjoying what the 8 has to offer during these mountain roads..... those are reasons for you to own a RX8.

Just got back from Whistler. The road construction and frost left most of the sea-to-sky hwy in terrible condition. Not very rx-8 friendly. In fact didn't see one sporty car there last few days too. Glad I didn't take the 8 there...
Not sure if it's better past Whistler. Anyhow I'd love to go again, but it's "too soon" for me.
Will prolly solo-ing it out around the Anmore/Belcarra loop.
btw, thanks for the map! I'm gonna keep it as a future reference!

Hmmm.... hopefully on Sunday, June 24, it'll be sunny? And I'm sure past whistler it'll be nice for sure! And when we come back around from lillooet to hope, it'll be an awesome drive. I just drove to Princeton and back last weekend, and it was awesome... I just wished I was in my 8 and not my gf's crappy civic. =P
Oh! And as for walkie talkies. Those would be really great. That's what a lot of people had last time. It's great for saying stuff like, "Let's pull over and take a break" or "I hate that slow f*ing Corolla in front of us".
I believe any of the two-way radios for sale at future shop or costco work together. (They don't have to be the same brand) Just that if someone has a cheaper one, the people with more advanced ones will have to tune to channels that the cheaper one has.
Costco has a really cool one on sale right now that apparently can access to all the Environment Canada weather stations. Here's the link: http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product....=radio&topnav=
If any of you would like to get that one and don't have costco membership, let me know.

Well... I think we're all hoping for good weather! I think we should also decide what will happen if the weather isn't good....
And yes, we will be able to finish this in one day. We'll have to leave early... 9-10am from north vancouver. And we'll finish and get home by around 9-10pm.

I definately think that the earlier we start the better, the last thing I want is a late night and be sleep deprived for workday Monday.
I think we should meet by at least 8:30 and leave by 9. Just my opinion.
