I'm still hoping the weather man is wrong.... They're wrong a lot.... They're say rain right up until the day before, then the day of, they'll say it's sunny...

And I just have a feeling that if we cancel it now, on the day of, it'll be the sunniest day of the summer! =P

Well, what do the rest of you think? Postpone this until July? Hopefully we'll have a really hot and dry summer in July?

If postpone until July, any of you still want to do anything on Sunday?

I would love to do something, anything, but my car I just was informed, will still be in the shop, even though they said they would get it done by this friday for me. They did offer to give me another 8 from the lot for this since mine is still in the shop, but then, anything happens, and I am paying for little rock chips etc...
If the drive is still on, would anyone object to having a passenger? I would hate for it to be the one time I dont make it out for this since I started them 4 years ago.
Well, I will give you a call tomorrow Eldon, keep us informed, and that will be great, and if we reschedule, maybe... just maybe we my car will not be broken into, or damaged... and maybe Fietguys car will be returned and all will be right in the RX world

I don't mind postponing until better weather, however we should have a consolation (back up plan) in case of uncontrollable circumstances like poor weather. I vote, that we get together anyways in this case. (In the future, let's plan the primary out door event, and then a secondary indoor as backup plan [something fun too!]. LOL it is BC weather after all )

This wasn't an official club meet originally... so if we where to turn this around into a BC RX8 club meet we should confirm quickly, make sure no one was left in the dark, or felt left out.

I don't mind just hanging out, but we'll need to define a location quickly that everyone agrees to.

There is also a restaurant (club) that "burnaby rx-8" mentioned. Based on what he suggested, I think it would make another excellent meet location. Otherwise, the Burnaby golf course restaurant is a good default location.

My personal vote.... I'd choose the River Rock Casino: it's fun with lots of glam big on theatre and they have a nice bar / lounge. Or Joe's Tomatoes on Lougheed Hwy, where we can enjoy many tomatoes.

I guess the weather's really against me... I think there's a pretty high chance of it raining... So, let's decide on our backup plan.

Our original meeting time was 8:00am on Sunday. I guess if we cancel the cruise, there's not much point meeting up so early? Since everyone already planned to drive the entire day, we should have our morning and afternoon schedules freed up, right? So let's meet up early afternoon?

So, if it rains, let's still do a little get together and do the full drive another day. But if miraculously it doesn't rain, let's do our drive!!!

Backup Plan
Date/Time: Sunday, June 24 @ 12noon
Location/Activity: (you vote!)
---Option 1: Burnaby Mountain Golf Course (Have a chat and lunch here)
---Option 2: Joey Tomato's - 550 Lougheed Highway (Have a chat and lunch here)
---Option 3: Riverrock Casino - Richmond (Have a chat, lunch and gamble here)

Any other suggestions? What do you vote for? Does 12noon for everyone?

Let's decide before Sat @ 6pm. So that gives us about 24 hours from this post.

-I checked weather reports for Whistler and Pemberton and both locations said 100% rain. On top of that it had a highs of 5-8 C*. That's pretty cold for June. I was pretty pumped to go too but unless the road conditions were dry and safe enough to rip it up, I don't think it'd be as much fun. Next month sounds excellent.

-As far as a back up activity is concerned, I agree with Gyro as it might be a good idea to call out the other rx8 members as soon as possible if we want to make it an actual club meet activity. Otherwise we could just call it an informal meet and all is welcome. Personally I'm flexible for whatever on Sunday, but there is also DTP (driven to perform) at BC Place tomorrow(Sat.June 23rd from 2pm-10pm. DTP this year has a marketplace with tons of sales on aftermarket perfromance parts and electronics stuff as well as all the suped up cars on display. (no I am not a promoter of this event) That might be an appropriate activity that a small group of us could go check out together. I'm planning on going anyways so I thought the more the merrier.

I can't decide between these two great ideas.... heheh, why don't we try and do both? Meet at "Burnaby Golf Course", and if time permitting, head out to see the DTP.

"him" let's make arrangements for noonish? at the golf course, for 10-15 people? - if there are fewer, or if we move the time... we can tweak those details later (before sunday). Don't forget to PM the gentlemen on this list about Sunday changes - just in case .

Cheers!

I was looking forward to this rain or no rain but July would do also. Burnaby Mountain or Boulevard Casino would work for me. DTP sounds OK for me also.

Sorry guys... I won't be able to make it for Saturday. I already have something planned...

And actually... I think it's pretty last minute now. Let's just make Sunday a lunch at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. Let's just decide with that because 5 people are able to make it for that now. =)

But I agree that we should make two events.

1) Saturday, June 23 - DTP

2) Sunday, June 24 - Lunch @ Burnaby Mountain Golf Course

Let's keep this thread for Sunday, June 24, though. Those of you who want to go to DTP on Sat, have fun! =)

I'll PM everyone who was planning to come on the drive and tell them that it's now been changed to lunch at noon at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course.

I hope those of you who originally signed up for the drive can now make it for the lunch. =)

haha. I believe you will be the only girl. But don't worry, we're very accepting people. =)

Too bad you can't make it tomorrow. Check this forum often as I believe there will probably be about 1 event per month in Vancouver.

-So I guess we should meet in the front right corner of the parking lot (just like last time) at 12 before we go in the clubhouse. Those that weren't there last time, just look to your right when entering the parking lot, or just look for a group of rx-8s.
-Since the weather isn't that great there will be plenty of tables for us.
-I think we should also make a phone call out to invite our members who came last time that aren't on the above list just in case they haven't checked these threads lately. It's only a handful of numbers so I'll get right on it in the morning.

Until the last few meets there really hasn't been a club. We've been working trying to establish one that won't fizzle out and die. If you can't make it out tomorrow, just PM one of us if you want to be contacted for future meets and functions. An yes, you will be the only girl, but we won't bite...hard. But please do come out, we need someone to represent the lady rx-8 owners of your city!

Easiest way from Richmond:

Come into Vancouver. (Take Knight Bridge, Oak Bridge or Arthur Laigne)

Head East on Marine Drive.

Turn Left on Boundary Road

Go all the way up until Lougheed Hwy. (Past Canada Way and Highway 1 onramps)

Turn Right on Lougheed Hwy.

Turn Left on Holdom Ave.

Turn Right on Halifax Street.

Go straight all the way, and you'll see signs pointing you to go straight some more to get to the golf course.

See you there!
