Well, since Ussoff is still out of country, and I was away for the last year, I am glad that you were trying to get this going for the fifth year in a row, so Thank you Eldon.
I am under the impression that the guys trying to set up a club are pretty much now in charge of all meets and such out here, I could be mistaken, but if you want to try to plan this again for our fifth annual drive, I still want to beat our drive which we made the video on, and maybe make a newer one.

If I am out of line trying to organize something which has been happening for 4 years already, but not a club approved thing, just say so, personally though I am hoping to find some time for this again, since Ussoff, Mark, Rohit and I were the ones who started and kept this going, as long as one of us is trying to organize it, then I have high hopes for it.

Eldon, we will be doing a camping weekend either on August 17, or 24th, so, give me a call sometime, and I will give you more info.

BTW, Ussoff, how has it been going on the other side of the ocean, and when are you coming back? I finally decided to stop hoping you will give away your rims and am looking for ones I will be happy with, hehehe

We're definitely trying to get this going again this year. I especially want to get this going. Believe me, I look forward to this drive all the time.

I think we will most likely be doing it either the last or second last weekend of August..... Maybe we should start a thread soon so people can find time for it.

Please don't feel like you have to go around the club to make this happen. We're trying to build a community for everyone, and we encourage everyone to be involved!

Yeah, reiterating the points of what Eldon(him) said above, we wanted to create a local rx-8 community that is both inclusive and benefitial for all rx-8 owners. I only got my 8 early this year and the first meet that I went out on in spring was only 3 people including me! I thought to myself that this lame turnout hardly represents or celebrates the spectacular car that us rx-8 owners enjoy. So collectively a few of us created a vision that would ensure:
-better turnouts to meets, more of the same people consistently coming out
-better organized meets and activities scheduled way ahead in advance
-enjoying group benefits and club member discount advantages
-not having to rely on this site to communicate, member contact info, our own
bcrx8 website(in the works)
-a network of support drawing upon the experience and knowledge that we all have as a group, strength in numbers
I guess it kind of sounds like the "Borg" doesn't it? Well you must join us, resistence is futile! (btw, to avoid the "nerdification" of our club, Star Trek and Star Wars comments are usually banned)
But seriously, we'd like you and all others to come out so you can enrich our group with your ideas and enthusiasm. If you haven't already, sign up for the bbq and private message your phone number to Eldon. Just come out.
We do plan on doing a drive in August, and we think that will give people enough notice to make it out. Otherwise it may only be a few people.

my only concern was after my post on a different thread, the comment I got back was making it seem that this has to be a club thing.

My main point is that this has been happening for years, and it had nothing to do with a club, just a few of us wanting to get together, regardless, we have tried in the past to try to get things going along this route, but it never seems to float, then in this past year, I was not out here, so Eldon was the only person trying to organize that I saw, otherwise, it was always Eldon or myself doing this. But due to family issues resulting in a death, well, that was my priority this last year.

I guess in a way since I have been one of the main organizers in this drive since we first got it going, I see it as something I have helped create and seeing someone else kinda taking over, makes it seems like the efforts are unappreciated, which is why I am glad Eldon is the one trying to keep it going, since him and I were the only ones to show up for last years try.

Inconsequential, dont feel bad about last years meet, people didn't show because of bad weather....

really, i think the weather is the number one indicator of whether people are gonna show...

we need to have the meets in the dead of summer, august is good, where we are almost guaranteed sunshine....

Yes and I think that's another reason we're trying to form an actual club because then we'd never have to worry whether anyone will show up at a meet or drive. As a club we'll always have some people out rain or shine. If the weather is bad at least we could just have a general social meet for a meal and maybe a few beers. That's how we'll gel more as a community.
"Inconsequential" we'd love for you to get involved with helping Eldon to organize this drive. You seem to know and work well with him. Eldon happens to be our club's Event/Meet Organizer. Maybe you guys could work together on that club comitee? I totally respect that fact that you guys are the creaters of this "drive". That's why we could really use your experience for leadership.
