Vancouver Dealerships

Hi all you Vancouver owners.

I'm looking for an RX8 GT and just stopped by that Mazda dealership on Kingsway x Imperial in Burnaby today. It was only 6:00 and they were shutting down already! I asked one of the guys standing around if I could at least get a brochure and he said he could photocopy some spec sheets for me, but he didn't have any brochures.
Needless to say, my first impression of a Mazda dealership is not a good one.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good dealer? Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby areas would be good.

What did you guys pay for your GT 6 speed? Did the dealers negotiate much at all?

Thanks for the reference - and warning - about Signature Mazda. I went to the Richmond Automall today and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The sales guy offered me a test drive in a GT. I must say I was very impressed with the car. I was a bit leery about the low torque figure at first, but it "felt" good! Remember the old ad "It just feels right"?

Anyways, after the test drive, the sales dude didn't try to pull a high pressure sales tactic. He just said to give him a call when I was ready and goodbye! Wow, not what I'm used to from Mazda dealerships! I previously owned a 626 and a MX6-GT.

I just need to go back with my golf bags and see if I can fit two golf bags into the trunk now....

Cheers!

By the way, DannyBeach, care to elaborate on why your experience was bad at Signature Mazda? I'm curious.
Thanks.

The trunk will be able to fit 2 golf bags... You will never buy a japanese car that can't fit golf bags!! The only problem for me though, is I have to store my woods/driver separately. The trunk opening is barely wide enough for them as they are

BIU... why would it matter if he's already visited another dealer?

He visited Signature Mazda, not another dealer

Hi BIU,
I talked to a youngish kid, I think he said his name was Dave(?).

Think I can still get a deal from your GM buddy despite this?

Would you mind me asking how much you paid for your car? You can email or PM me if you rather not say in the forum...

Thanks!

Hi Enzoler,

Good to know this as it's a deciding factor for any car I buy! The trunk just looks so darn small, I hope our golf bags fit as you say. I'm sure I would have to put the carts in the back seat though, right? There's no way that trunk can fit two golf bags and two pull carts!

Cheers!

Well since you've talked to Dave already i dont really know if i can help you..

i was hoping you didnt goto Sig Mazda to talk to the sales...

Well i dotn really want to say how much i got it for but let me just say i can hook you up with a better pricing than you can get yourself by negotiating with the sales....

Yeah, no carts in the trunk... defintely a long shot.

Actually, I looked at the trunk more closely today, and realized they are shaped specifically for golf bags. It's got grooves and cavities on both sides that seem so out of place, but fit perfectly for clubs! I can fit 2 midsized bags, stacked vertically... but just barely. It'll be a tough call if you've got the bigger bulkier bags.

GL.

I can put you in touch with a guy at Wolfe Auto in Vancouver. I was very particular in what I wanted in the car and he got it for me, and even shipped it to Colorado for me. Yep, I am part of the Canadian Brain drain. So if your dead serious in moving forward, PM me, and I will send you his details.

I bought from Signature, and found it OK. They will try to pull all the car dealer stuff tho, like undercoating, window etching, extra insurance.

But if you do your reseach and stand firm . Remember, you can always walk away at anytime, right up to the final signatures.

Oh yeah, general car buying tip, beware of the speakerphones in the offices...the salesman can open a line and then make an excuse to leave the office, only to listen in on your conversations.

picked up my RX-8 from port moody mazda. it's a bit of a drive - but it's the dealership that gave us the least run-around/BS when we started shopping for the car a year ago ...

having said that, they still are a car dealership and our experience sounds similary to what Zedcaster is saying.

good luck.

I got mine from Port Moody as well. West Coast Mazda. Through a car broker though.

I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't push to sell any of the extras (undercoating, rustproofing etc.) but it seemed they had a busy day. Maybe they didn't have time for the extra push to sell?

What prices are you guys getting in Van?

Hi,

Sorry if this is a little off topic but it sort of fits in and I didnt want to start a new thread. I am I'm currently looking for a car, basically I'm down to the RX-8, 05 saab 9-2x aero or an 06 WRX with the 2.5 l turbo, I know about all there is to know about the two cars and their still fairly even in my mind. The only thing left to figure out is the priceing. If the RX-8 GS is the same price as the base 9-2x aero, (currently I can get one for 31500 otd before tax), and the 06 WRX, (probably about the same as the saab mabyee a grand more) i will likley go for it.

Well what I would like to know is how much you guys have been paying (cash price) for the RX-8, both GS and GT trim? Can I realistically expect to get close to the price I was offered on the saab? If it's only a grand difference I would go for the RX-8 but if it get to like 2-3 grand I would have to think about it more.

I think if it's going to be about the same price the extra styling, RWD, better driving position (lower), and better handeling would make up for the better fuel economy and faster acceleration of the WRX/saab.

Note: Sabb 92-x is a WRX with 17in summer tires, better looks, moon roof, and some minor suspension upgrades.

Note: Winter driving does not concern me in Vancouver, for the mabye 1 week of snow here I can drive 25km/h to work. Actualy I have a 240SX (RWD) now and it's a blast to drive in the winter, I must have spent 6 houres at 2 am in the university parking lot last winter

Note: I would be willing to pay 2-3k more for the GT becasue of the added features it has over the WRX.
