i talked to the guy from forcefed.. for a bit.. he doesnt really like the renesis.. i dont know why.. didnt ask.. told me to get exhasut intake and thats about it.. and if i wanted serious power then get a engine swap from an FD...he was really trying to convince me to do the swap..

i just dont see a dedicated rotary community here.. and anyone willing to shell out the cash.. but then again there might a be some in the outskirts of the city who prolly have a 20B in some car ..who knows...

Personally our roads are not friendly to high horsepower cars and cars that slaughter emmissions...we have only one some what decent highway and the rest is earthquake battered and potholed roads.. and lastly we are heavily influenced by the richmond ricer rockets so you see many people more worried about the amount of teddybears that can be stuffed to clog as many blindspots as possible to what scent airfreshner they use in cars rather than engine performance and real power...ultimately i think its the lack of enthusiasm for rotaries and the fact that we are a city driven by the sale of fart cannons and tacky bodykits..

nothing that has anything to do with a 20b .. but a personal observation..

maybe if we can find an importer for cheap$$ 20Bs, who is willing to ship in bulk, like the amount of skylines that have popped up in the city..although i dont see the #s of customers willing to pay for 20bs for importers to even bother ..

but the bottom line is the hardcore rotary tuner community are satisfied with their 500whp 13B Fds.. and id love to be the first 8 in the lower mainland or hopefully western canada to transplant an FD motor into the 8 and pump out 500whp... woohooo!!.

the other half are 40+ yr old farts who bought this car as their civilised daily driver seeing the numerous hybrid advantages this car has..

i totally agree with you there~
as far as im concern, 99% of the time when i see a modded up car, its either a 350z or S2k or Sti or civic or w/e...
perhaps some people are VERY afraid of having their car treated at a shop ebcause of the whole unconventional engine..
which is why i made this thread so that people can check out which shop they can trust and dump the cash on the 8 to outrun those damn 350z and STis..!!

Some of us farts have absolutely no interest in modifications, only in driving a well-sorted chassis.

meh...
you might as well not be on the forums then..

.unless you got nothing to do with time...

the chasis may be well sorted.. but a few suspension mods really make this car the way it should have been factory....ie FUN to Drive.. since i got the coilovers.. i have more spirited drives i have noticed im driving an extra 100-150kms every month...
back in the day my friends use to make fun of me as my "boat" waddled left and right when driving.. and i use to hate being thrown lall over the car and having stuff fly around..

the car is extremely fun to drive as stock...
but i mean, if you are more competeive like a human being, you will soon lose the mood as you will be constantly passed by Z and STi...so....besides, slapping on a turbo doesnt even get you faster than a stock sti.....-.-...
so...some decide to slap on a 20b or a 13b swap from the Rx7...
or just GET an rx7 and tune the **** out of it...

myself, i love the 4 seat arrangement, as i do carry around some friends with my girl with me occasionally..as a result, im looking to soon swapping a rx7 13b or a 20b if possible..^^
or ...wait for a new rx7 as a second car..(if i have the cash)

man you guys are such dreamers... everyone who gets into a rotary always says "i want a 20b.." (yes me too many yrs ago!:P) iirc, it cost about $15k USD to swap a 20b into an FD after all has been said and done.. you really think it's worth it for an 8? on top of that, you'd need to get tuning done.. who can do it locally? no one.. that's why i had to get steve kan to fly in to tune a bunch of FDs..

besides, all of you who want the 20b or a 13b-t, why? for straight line speed only? FWIW, a local rx8 (not sure if it was NA or turbo?) i ran a few days ago was f'n quick.. i didnt pull that many cars on him and i'm pretty sure he's still got the renesis.. my point? stick to the engine, save yourself money & headache. the 8 is a quick car i found.. that 8 could definitely beat a 350z/g35c & stock STI if you asked me.

i'm not trying to come across as an arrogant FD owner (and sorry if i did), but just want you to see reality and what a great car/engine you own.. (my sis owns one, and stock i can carry soo much through corners even if it's wet out - which goes back to the well sorted chasis as it was on the factory tires)... but yeah. it's a deceptively quick car...

my 2 cents after just browsng through this thread..

well, tell me specifically what you want done?

if you're doing general maintenance, any shop can do it. (well, not sure about 8 guys, but with fc/fd guys, we never take our cars to mazda :o)

if you want someone to install your bolton parts, any shop can do it. it doenst have to a rotary specific shop.

the only time you'd really want to venture over is if you need a rebuild- other than that, same yourself the premium and go to any shop for bolton/maintenance.

just my opinion. hope this helps.
