We Canadians buy cars in a strange way
I've been trying to sell my car for the last couple months. You'd think it would be no big deal and there would be lots of interest in July and August. Wrong. I've had more calls and emails in the last week, when the temperature was well below -20°C, than in the summer when it was above +20°C.
Thinking back, I bought the 8 in november just before the snow fell that year. There must be something in the water around Edmonton lol

You're in the Canada forum. You have to do the homework yourself
I imagine this is because people are dreaming of summer and looking forward to cruising in a sporty car. It's all about reverse psychology lol
Why are you selling, anyways?

^ +1 .. People usually shop for sports car around this time basically to low ball and try to get better prices. Think about it this way. Its usually cheaper to buy for example a camping tent at canadian tire in winter than it is to buy it in summer.

really lol ??? Personally i think my 8 does fine in the snow. But i do have pretty good snow tires though which makes a huge difference. Crappy snow tires wont do you any good. Sometimes yes i do slide but then again youll slide in ANY car if its slippery enough.

So anyway, what do you all think of an offer of $8k (CAD for those americans reading). Mods are in the sig. Engine was replaced under warranty a short time ago.

2004
116, 000 kms now.
new engine and clutch at 115, 000 kms
no accidents.
I was gonna try and get at least $10-11k.
@jamcan, I hear BBR sells a nice midpipe with a cat. Now go start a thread, so I can hijack it

This is how my little p-brain see's it
2004 model and it's now 2012, that makes the car 8 years old.
10k for an 8 year old car?
By 2014 (10 years old) the cars not going to be worth 5k.
Who would pay, (and I'm being generous) over 6k for a 10 year old car, forget an RX8 which much to our dislike has a poor track record that will follow it.
For 10k you better be getting dinner and blow job as well.
That's just my 2c
PS: Oh and don't someone go posting how a 10 year Viper is still worth 40k or something ... be reasonable the RX8 is still a "General Market" vehicle when it comes to pricing.

^ wcs you're on the money ; just throwing it out there if it helps ya out a bit azzuro ; my father is a car wholesaler that operates all around southern Ontario and he's always been making fun of how cheap 8's are going for since I got mine (totally on subject: yes I got mine Oct 31 2009... the dealer wouldn't let me leave without putting out an offer as they were terrified of the wrath that Mazda Canada would bring upon them if it sat on their lot for another winter)..
but anyways yeah $10,000 would be a stretch - he mentioned most dealers here can buy a 2004 with similar K's for about $5,000 (wholesale pricing) so at best a reasonable retail price may be $7-8,000.

Now .. if you could get that car with its new engine for 7k then get a Turbo installed and tuned for 7k ... now that sounds like fun

so the engine replaced under warranty with less than 1000kms on it doesn't help is what you're saying?
I guess I kinda figured that when buddy made that offer, but I was thinking that was just a super lowball offer.

Well, the 8 is gone. It made some kid's 18th birthday. As with most used car sales, I would have liked to get more for it, but the rear wheel wells were rusting. Honestly, I'm kinda glad it's gone now, although I'm sure I'll miss it.
