What is the best winter beater?
Hey guys,
This winter has been really bad on everyone, especially on our 8's. What is a good winter beater to get, cuz I really want to garage my 8 next winter for those few bad months! I was thinking an old Nissan Pathfinder? Or a Jeep Wrangler, or an old Honda CRV if I wanna stick with the four wheel drives, or is a simple old Honda Civic with winter tires good for those few months? What do you guys have now (those that currently garage their 8's). I plan to only spend between $1000 - $2000 bucks. What are your thoughts?
Thanks guys for your help and God Bless you!
Ben.

I currently drive a 1995 Eagle Talon as my winter beater. I don't think a big SUV is needed. A car is good enough.
RX8 comes out in a month or so!

LOL I know they're not boxers, I just figured you were joking so I was being sarcastic haha. I don't know how old you're talking but my bud has an 05 pathfinder with no problems. I know that's pretty much new. I see ealier models too all the time though. Spring is right around the corner though. Why you asking now?

Don't drive when the snow is as high as sunday midnight. Only SUVs with snow tires could get through, they might get stuck even. All the sedans/sports cars will bottom out! A G35X with X-Ice got stuck while i was shoveling around midnight. IIRC it sends most of the power to its rear wheels when its just slipping on the snow =)

not really, just don't drive in those conditions!!!
it doesn't happen often anyways, and the snow will be plowed very quickly if we get hit this hard.
In my opinion any car will survive winter in GTA with snow tires. RX-8 included.

Grand Chancellor
a cheap subaru 2.5rs pre-googly headlamps would be perfect as winter beater. who knows you may get hooked with the AWDness and take it for winter TSD rallies.

To OP. Just a heads up in case you're still considering the Pathfinder. My friend who has one (an 05) has been having serious problems with it lately. Just a heads up. Not sure what exactly but he's bitching.

Thanks a lot for the heads up bro! Yeah, I'm just researching my options for now. If I have to drive my 8 during the next winter season, then I will, but if I can God-willingly garage it for those few treacherous months, and buy a beater, then that would be even better. Thanks for all your responses guys!
