What makes the RX8 such a head turner??

I've only had the RX8 for two weeks and the attention I'm getting is crazy!! I never would've expected it to turn sooo many heads. I was drying off my car today beside a BMW 645CI and I was getting more attentions than a 100k+ brand new Bimmer!

Is it the cartoon-like style? or because its so rarity (compare to G35c, 350z etc)? is it because the color (Cooper Red)?

but whatever it is I am Loving it! today alone I had two ppl screaming "NICE CAR" from the window while driving past me and one guy stopped to ask for the retail on one of those at the carwash ( so tempted to say"more than you can afford pal, its a MAZDA" haha FnF)

I'm just wondering if you fellow Rx8 owners also recieve this kind of attention on a daily bases

You know what's funnny....

I actually don't get that much attention driving around in my RX8.

I hear the stories about others getting so much attention but usually never do.
I think the best compliment I've gotten to date is some little kid looking out the window of his car with his jaw dropped for about 10 secs or so.

Be considerate of people saying nice things about your car.... it's unusual I think for people to blurt out saying such and such about a perfect strangers possessions. I mean ... how many times have you done that???

The RX-8 is beautiful and although there are some that don't agree, the public's consensus is definitely overall in my experience... I've had old folks, kids in minivans, people on the side of the street, people pull up in cars yelling... people folloowing me in stores, you name it... the 8's got a draw like no other I've ever owned.

The geniuses at Mazda laced the honeycombs in the cat's with pheromones, male and female.

There you go. It's that simple

It must be the rarity factor. Not many people know about the 8...
I've had many compliments about the car!! One compliment came a week after I got the car and was shopping at a mall (Sunridge). I've gotten a few these past months as well, 3 froms kids, one from a 60 yr old at a beer store, and one from a trucker while driving by.

I usually get them when my car is SUPER clean =p

I get a lot of stares maybe because of the body kit, but I don't notice it anymore. Any passenger who rides with me will be like "did you see that guy wave at you?" and I'm like "nope, driving...". I did have, on 2 occasions, kids jump onto the middle of a street, which was kind of dangerous. I also get more ppl asking me about the car than my dad's M3, which he doesn't think is funny...

Must be the color and rarity. People were looking at me in the most obvious ways, like a guy on a bike 4 cars length looking back just to check out the front, or people purposing driving pass me (way above speed limit) just to stick their heads out the window to look at the front, then proceed to slow down again.

Even just today, when I was pulling into Canada Tire, literately every one walking out of the store was looking at me (or my car), and I mean physically turning their heads for > 5secs, not just a quick stare. I parked in front of my friend's house today and literately every single person who walks by slowed down to check out the car

Honestly, I found all these attention a little scary, I dont like the idea that people is watching me no matter I go, cant crank up the Kelly Clarkson hahaha

Get use to it. I've had my car for 2 years now and so far I got away from a speeding ticket because the cop was more interested in the car than my speeding, free gas because the owner liked my car, numerous phone numbers from hot chicks as I leave a club, and the list goes on and on.

The best thing is that I get compliments from all ages. That is what I like about this car, it isn't targeted to just one specific age group like some other cars, which I won't name.

There are too many RX8's in Toronto because I don't get these frantic wavings, or phone numbers. I know people like the look of the car, co-workers and friends have told me so, but otherwise no activity.

I just got the car last Friday. On Saturday, tooling around getting used to it, I stopped a kickball game as I drove by. I was pretty stoked till one kid shouts "Is that a Lotus?" I pretended like I didn't hear him and continued driving. What are they teaching kids in school these days anyway.

Hahahaha....that's pathetic that you need a car to get laid. I'm just joking with you. But seriously, this car is the ****. I live in San Diego and no matter how many other expensive cars are on the road, I always seem to get at least one complement or one stare a day. And it's been 14 months since I've had this car. I LOVE IT!!!!

I get stares pretty regularly, numerous times I'll be driving down the freeway and ill slowly pass some minivan with kids in it, and you can see the kids shuffeling around to get a better view of my car.

I get the occasional people at the gas station asking about my car which is nice. I can honestly say I didn't buy this car to get ***** -- but that would sure be a nice bonus seeing as how I'm single.

Now I know why i get so many attentions.. I had to slap to myself to make sure I own THAT car.. Feel soo lucky, so glad i didnt get a S2000 or G35c or 350z.

Why is it a head-turner? Well, the same reason people gawk at SSRs, really. They're relatively rare, they have wacky styling, and the sound really odd at mid-RPMs revving around town.

That, and I've been blaring Elvis CDs lately.
