Wheel swap

I want to swap tires on my stock wheels and my mazdaspeed wheels that came with the performance package. After awhile of usage, I actually prefer the stock wheels over the mazdaspeeds; plus, they're wider as well.

I currently have the summers on the Mazdaspeeds, and I'm riding winters on the stock wheels. I was at the dealer today getting my oil change and inquired about that swap. They want to charge me $192! That's insane! My friend said he can do it for me for $40, but he said he might scratch the 18" rims cause his equipment isn't sophisticated enough.

Does anyone know of a good tire shop that will probably do it a lot cheaper and most importantly can gaurantee they won't scratch the rims?

North of GTA or Scarborough ONLY, no west-end locations.

Your 18s should not scratch at all when being removed....

Goto a place that is a little more performance oriented shop, and you should be good

192 dollars to dismount and mount 8 tires is not that bad of a deal.......thats 24 dollars per tire to mount and balance it............for a quality place that WONT scratch your rims you are looking at around 20 per tire.

lol there's no way he's going to Mississauga.

$192 seems ok. It's really costing you $12/each to remove all 8 tires, and another $12/each to mount them. Maybe you can talk them down to $10/each.

Since when do they charge you to remove AND put on the new tires!

If you take a set of tires to a tire shop and ask how much to mount, they will tell you ~$20 a tire, that means $20 x $4 = $80. You don't get charged for removing the old tire as well - it's included in the price. You need to remove it to install the new tire right? Ever heard of anyone rolling around on their rims to get tires installed? Ripping the old rubber off once it's on the machine takes about 10 seconds. So your dealer is charging you $48 a tire. $192 is ridiculous.

Find a tire dealer in your phone book and go there; I try and find a place that has older staff with guys that have been around a while.
