When do they start to clean out the '05s?
hi guys, I'm thinking about purchasing a RX8 this coming summer, either a Shinka ( if there is still any left in 2 or 3 months) or a Black GT.
I've been reading this forum for weeks and I'm sure this is the right car for me, so thank you all.
Im wondering when do they release the '06 model and offically start cleaning out the '05s, and people told me the best time to buy a new car is near the end of the month when the dealer is trying to reach quota, is it true?
Thanks

According to conventional wisdom, buying a car at the end of the month is a good strategy, but I've never seen any empirical evidence of its effects. And I suspect it may be more a way to stimulate sales than an actual effect. (People tend to be more frugal at the end of the month simply because most folks are paid at the beginning of the month.)
One piece of advice that does seem to hold (at least in my experience) is that dealing with a dealer through the "internet" or "fleet" sales manager is a much less trying experience and results in fewer misunderstandings, less time spent negotiating, and (likely) a lower price.

My guess is that the Shinka's won't be around that long seeing as that Canadian dealerships are getting 1-2 each. At my local dealership, the Shinka was sold the day it arrived there (I missed seeing it by a day).
I purchased my '04 8 in Oct and they were starting to get new '05s in. But they didn't seem to be that desperate in clearing out. Around late Nov/Dec, that is when they start to budge more. If you wait till the new year, you will get an awesome deal (like a few of the board members here) but you may not get the car with the exact options you want.

I would say that September would be a good time to buy...the new models are out by then so the dealers want to start getting rid of the old models. Also in September you would have a bit better selection than if you wait.

Start checking the newspapaer ads between September and November. When Mazda starts to clear inventory, you will usually see sales incentives like lower intrest rates for finanacing or leasing. When I got mine in October; the finance/lease rate was 2.9% and was able to get a deal on the price.

thank you all for the input.
Thats not good news to me Bluefrenzy haha, I am planning on purchasing it in Calgary, i guess no Shinka for me. There is a dealer here in Edmonton with one in the showroom but they are asking 43k MSRP.

I can confirm the speed at which the Shinks get out the door... I bought one a few days ago and it had just been put in the show room the same day. :D
And there was absolutely no way to deal a better price in these conditions... But the price I got wasn't 43K but just a little below 42K.

Congrats on the Shinka, Mad. I think you are the second Canadian owner w/ Shinka on the board (that we know of).
I think that you'd be hard pressed to get a good deal on the Shinka seeing as that they are so limited in numbers. Go with the Black 8, as you can get them to budge much more on that (and there's no fear of short supply).

Just stay away from the Blue cars...they are known to be slower than the rest! :D

Yes, ...and I enjoyed blowing up everyone of them...unlike you, who only revs his car to 3500. :D :D
