I picked up last year's Star Specs on clearance from tirerack & love them. I had Pole Positions before these and they wore too fast for what you pay for them.

Where were you guys last year??
The RE050A PP tires are expensive and wear quickly
The KDWs are inexpensive, look awesome, great grip but are noisy on the highway
I want to hear more impressions of the Direzza Star Spec Z1

True.
There's only 1 tire I want for the Miata. I'm picking up a set of RE11's.
Come on everyone. How do you expect grip and expect the tire to last forever? That doesn't make sense.
My OEM RE050A's on the Miata lasted me 2yrs of spring/summer/fall driving. The Miata currently has 82k on the clock. So lets say conservatively, I did about 30k of winter driving. That's still pretty good to have the stock tires last 50k. Especially when the treadwear rating is set to 140!
I think the RE11's sit at 180 treadwear. We'll see how it goes.

Bridgestone RE11's vs. Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1
If you have the money, go RE11. ($50 more PER TIRE)
If you want best bang for buck, go Star Spec.
According to what I've researched, a lot of people are saying the RE11 is just "slightly better" than the Star spec, and that's with butt dyno.... no real world data comparison.
So it's a matter of diminishing returns... more money for a little bit more. If your car is daily driven like mine most of the time with an occasional track day, you will hardly notice a difference.

Ideally it would be good to see some discounted prices on summer rubber. But since we're in the winter season, getting summer rubber is going to be tough. Since they don't stock them due to the weather.
Regardless, come spring, there are still deals to be had on summer rubber.
I remember last season I got new RE760's for about $650 out the door. Fantastic tire for the application I had in mind.
I'm always more geared towards having Bridgestone tires. I've had to deal with Dunlops in a variety of different segments. Also Yokohama's.
For the street, the Bridgestones are really hard to beat. They're very alive at the track too. Any more and you might as well run a slick tire.
Afterall, they do participate at the pinnacle of motorsport.

Okay, after much deliberation, and advice from forum members, I've concluded the following:
Right... with the Bilstein B8 and Eibach suspension upgrades, I deserve an extreme summer tire to bring out the maximum performance of the car, I am now exclusively going to decide between:
A) Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1
B) Bridgestone RE-11
I don't care about short treadwear. I

The most fun is going to be watching you all try and agree on a tire lol. Dont forget we are a tire dealer and our group buy includes almost all tire manufacturors and a price based on purchasing a few hundred thousand tires per year lol.
