I have been away too long... Just reading up on all the back posts... Not sure why my subscribed threads is not alerting me. Must be a mail thing. Fisher - that really sucks to be out of action for so long. I only did one long trip this summer - out past Cleveland - and I was glad it was not further.... about 3 hours into it my engine stalled and thus began the great crawl back home. After much reading on this and other sites - it looks like I will be replacing my fuel pump. Let me know if anyone did an upgrade and has a tool to pop the lock ring. Also recommendations on replacements - BHR has a few but I think that they are for high output and could blow the regulator on my street car. If we have a meet a meet and I can bore you all as I discuss my innovative driving technique and near death experiences trying to drive highway while fuel starved.

Thoughts for Otto... Welcome and nasdrovia ! Not sure if there are any shops that have lifts for rent. Liability is pretty limiting for most small operators. most people seem to just use the jacks and stands as the car is pretty small. Big guys like me have issues in small spaces!

Stock S2 pumps can also be modified slightly to work for less cost than BHR, IIRC.

Fuel Pumps
Thanks HiFlight I was under the impression that the larger pumps required some modification of the regulator - drilling out or melting caps. I think I read a thread that said that was not really necessary but I couldn't find it again. In looking again at BHR's site I finally found the Walbro. So that looks like the best bet - I assumed that the S2 pumps would be more expensive and although the fitting didn't look that difficult, a drop in pump is likely just fine.
Thanks for the pointers.

Chad, sounds like you have been there. Any tips? I did read a few horror stories. and I had a similar ring on a pool pump filter. I will be trying the "ruler method".
Otto - do you know if they modded the regulator at all?
Walbro is on order!

Hey guys, pulled the 8 out of deep hibernation this past week. Needed new coils and plugs, rear driver's side caliper was seized up so I decided to do all the brakes at once. Thing was running like a slug before. All that's left is to swap out all the fluids, get it detailed and we're ready for warm weather.
Anybody up for a meet sometime soon?

My car is running. I have some old car bugs to fix throughout the summer though. Engine mounts, front wheel bearing, air pump delete, new bumper and sides to install...
I'm going to look at a fully built motor for my honda very soon, get that back on the road so I have more time to work on the 8 and get it the way I want it.
A meet sounds great though.

I took mine out a couple weeks ago, and it quit 3 times in 5 miles. Pushing on a corner of the main fuse box allows a restart. Pulling kills it. So the box is in pieces ATM until I get time to try a fix ....

Too quiet in this thread here... Now that Winter is upon me I have to spend some time inside the garage. New high beam bulbs are a pain to install. Steering cables keep dropping out, leaving me with no power assist. Fixed it once, gotta do a better job I guess. May have a solenoid issue, must pull and test. Put on new brake pads all around, but found a nail in the tire (doh!) gotta bring it in before it goes flat on me, but it's time for the snows anyway. Anyone up for coffee before they put the car away?
