You bought a what !!!!!
" You're kidding Dad, you didn't buy one of those " that was the reaction from #2 son last week when he found out I bought an RX8. Any particular reason why I SHOULD NOT OWN AN RX8 ?? oh of course, I forgot, I'm going to be 65 this year,,,,,ah pension time,,,way too old to be zooming around in my absolutely awesome late model RX8 GT stunning metallic blue, luxury package, all black interior,,,,,,,,oh oh there goes my pulse racing just thinking about that beauty that I'm about to slip into and head to the golf course.
Well maybe the kid is right, get rid of this devastating machine from Mazda and hobble into something more befitting my age, maybe a Ford Fusion or perhaps a Chevy Malibu. I wonder if the previously mentioned mutt vehicles could send out a beep like my 8 did when I redlined it in 3rd at 130 kmh.
I really should give up my 8, and perhaps my golf clubs too, I play off an eight handicap and on any given day can shoot in the 70's on most full size courses. My boy's hit the ball a mile, way past the old man here, ah but it's the end result that makes the kids cry.
My RX8, I'm a driver, I've been behind the wheel of many a nice auto in my day this car that I just bought is something to behold, I can't remember feeling this good behind the wheel of any car in the past. Sure you young guys will be telling me about the auto. tranny I have is lacking in torque etc. but it's got more than I need and how can you not love those paddle shifters ?? I'm really just getting to know my blue beauty, it's just lovely inside and out, it was about time I treated myself to a car like this. My kid was quick to point out the " lousy " gas mileage, so what ?? if I had wanted 35 mpg. I would have bought a Mazda 3, 1.8 stick shift,,,,,,so there ! ZOOM, ZOOM.

Hah! My kids have already discussed/argued about who gets mine when I'm dead.
I'm 58, retired and still smoke....Don't ask me to quit....its the only thing I'm still good at.

I'm ZOOMING down to Penticton Country Club for a round of golf this morning, part of the fun will be the drive there and back,,,,,,,have a great day.

Yep, a full size golf bag fits AOK in the trunk. A collapsible pull cart as well. Driving the '8 to the course is almost as much fun as the play.
Close to 58 myself but not yet retired. One day .....
Congratulations & enjoy (and I'm envious of your golf handicap)!

When I showed them the car at a family get together, they asked the typical "how many pistons?" with a few saying "oh you gotta get that American muscle engine planted in there.

Why does age mean that you have live a dull life? Look at Paul Newman, he raced into his 80s! I think it's great that you have a car that makes you feel the way you've described.
No offense to your son, but I'm going to guess he drives an appliance-class car?
