2004 rx8 gt
I have a car coming in on trade, its a 2004 RX8 GT, Red on red/blk leather, moonroof etc. It was the 1st 2004 RX8 sold, and I sold it at the 2004 Car Show that year. The car has had one owner and it has 2 sets of wheels with it. The car has about 110,000km. If anyone wants a quick deal we will sell it for $10,995 as is, just a quick in and out. If not we will probably send it to the auction, as its not really a car we as a Toyota Dealer can use.

$3000.00.......................................... .What kind of question is that?? If you are assuming that I am trying to make lots of money on a car to the club, quite frankly I am insulted. I have supported this club whole hearted for the last 3 years , and am trying to pass a quick deal onto someone who may be looking for a lower priced car. If no one wants it I am sure I can at last $11,000 + at the auction for the car.

My comment was not an attack of you or your business practices, I only asked what price a Toyota dealer (or any dealer for that matter) would offer as trade in on an 8 with 115,000 km. Why, as I am in a similar juncture in time as I have had mine for over 5.5 years and am looking to trade it in this Spring. Who knows, maybe on a Toyota product.
On-line Black book values are not given once the vehicle has over 100k on it, at least for an 8.
I suggest that if you can obtain for the owner $11K as is for this vehicle then you've done well for them. I know I would be willing to accept this figure and would be interested to know how it goes in this particular case. If you are willing to do so though. You may not be.

PS. Alan, at a two different dealers today car shopping. Each offered me $7K for my 8. Seems low eh?

Yeah, problem is, they give you 7k, sell it to the wholesaler for what maybe 8k, wholesaler auctions it for 9k then that dealer sells it for 10-11k. There really isn't that much room in there with so many hands in the pot.

That was a good deal for a GT.
A new car dealer that is doing things right should not be using wholesale cars as a proffit center. A wholesale unit should be cleared out at no proffit or loss. If the used car department is going to purchase the car recondition it and then retail it then thats a different story. An offer of 8K on an 04 with 110 K is a bit of a low blow, tell them to sharpen thier pencils or your going elswhere.
My father and I are ex RX7/RX8 owners and have a used car dealership; Red Rover Auto Sales in Hamilton.
We actually just got an 04 in our inventory with about 80K. Its a grey GS model 6 speed with no accident history in good overall shape. If any one is interested in the car before we recondition it; needs 4 tires and a cut & polish let us know. We will let it go as is for $9900 - I wont respond to any offers. After reconditioning with safety, E-test and Powertrain warranty it will be $11590
