DIY: Troubleshoot Intake Valves
I created a video to show how you can troubleshoot the VDI, SSV, APV, and VFAD valves and actuators within the intake system.
This is also helpful to better understand the interior workings of the intake manifold.
I understand the intake manifold isn't inside the car in this video, so some valves will be trickier to get to.
This is just to show the concept of testing the valves.

Jon316G,
Thanks for taking the time to share your intake and starter videos.
You can say "Holy ****" again on that new starter. I wish I had seen this video while my car was still under warranty - I would have asked for the new starter. How may miles did your car have when the starter problem began?
I still have my stock battery and stock starter, but the car's not as bad as yours was. Thanks again!
Oops, is there another thread for your starter video?

LOL... the starter issue is from this thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/troubleshooting-starting-issues-169058/
That was RK's car.
I was there to help him install it and shoot the video showing the difference in starting with the upgraded starter.

Am I old school now?
I threw the P2070 code twice now. It moves freely, but I think I'm going to force the dealership to do the TSB to resolve it. Your video makes my sig worthy - LOLMy fav's are Dishwalla, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice N Chains, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Metallica...

The video doesn't show it, but there is a contact switch the lever presses that tells the PCM if the valve is open or closed.
But if you're under warranty, let the dealer worry about it
Not at all. Those are still good bands even today!

Great vid.... I still need to check my VDI valve but i think I'd leave the APV stuff to the dealership or a garage... but I was seeing low MAF g/s readings up top when I was NA

Couple reason...
First, Vimeo has always been known as a "pro" platform where people uploaded videos of their passion and you could get valuable comments... almost "artsy".
While YouTube has always been known for kiddy garbage cams and useless uploads.
Vimeo may not have as much traffic as YouTube... but showing-off to the masses was never my intent.
Secondly, when I first started uploading videos, Vimeo was allowing HD uploads while YouTube (at the time) wasn't.
YouTube would compress my videos too much and it looked like ****.
Plus... Vimeo has no time limit while YouTube limited at 10min, so any future DIYs that might be more than 10min would have to be broken-up into separate videos.
And if you have a Vimeo login (free) you can download my videos.
Yes.. I know you can download YouTube videos with browser plug-ins.
Its just easier for the "inexperienced" people to click a download button.
But I don't see why I can't just upload to both now.
I'll work on that and use both links on the original post.
Thanks for the "suggestion".
