We are all done here :(

I'm sorry to say that DPE is going out of business. A number of things have led me to make this move, and at this point there's no turning it around. I plan on doing a little writeup of the whys and whatfors and posting it on dpeweb.com one day (there will be a lot of good info in there for future entreprenuers in this business ), but I wouldn't look for that for a few weeks yet as I focus on clearing out inventory and such. Meantime, you can find some pretty good deals on our remaining inventory by visiting our ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/DPE-Outlet

Had a good run, and you guys certainly did your part to help the cause. In fact, RX-8 owners accounted for a little more than half of my business. So to my customers, thanks a bunch! Sorry we couldn't be here for the long haul, but I certainly had a good time with it while it lasted.

Mods, give it a few days, but feel free to lock down or get rid of this forum. Might want to archive some of the info in here, as there is some good stuff, but I won't be putting any more items up for sale in this space.

Regards,

Phil

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Indeed, a tough business, and one that wouldn't work with the way I wanted to do things. I'm proud to be able to say that in 2.5 years in business I literally never had a customer complaint regarding DPE's service. And that's selling to hundreds of customers in 12 different countries. However, if you can't turn a profit that little fact doesn't do you much good .

I've got a new gig lined up that has a lot of promise in a different but semi-related industry, so my kids will still have food and shelter and all that . Gained a lot of knowledge and had a lot of fun, so while it has been a particularly expensive lesson I'm not coming away empty handed. Empty-pocketed perhaps, but better off having given it a shot.

This is a sad loss for us. Phil was great to do business with. Went out of his way to help me out with advice on my first track day. I wish him the best. And kudos to him for having the guts to try running his own business. That takes a lot of courage.

Hey man, I went into business on my own and failed, but don't let it get you down. In the end the experience will help you and sometimes these things are out of our control. Good Luck.

Never really got acquainted I'm sorry to say, but i had a pretty big wish list on your site. I thought I'd help out the cause and decided to take the Tien H-techs off your hands. Thanks, always sad to see an rx-8 vendor go.

Best wishes, Nick

WHOA!

Phil, I'm really sorry to hear this news. I had the pleasure of purchasing items from you and exchanging quite a few PM's and I must say you are WITHOUT A DOUBT one of the most helpful, polite, and informative vendors we've ever had on this site.

I enjoyed referring people to you and always getting PM's from them telling me how pleased they were with your service. The fact that you never had a complaint is honestly not any surprise to me.

Let me know where you're going. I wish you the best of $uccess in business and in life.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Sorry I haven't updated the site or been responsive to this one. The new 'real' job can be a bit demanding at times, and of course the holiday and all that stuff. I hope to have something new and different on the site in the next couple weeks, but we're migrating off the proper ecommerce company server and onto something more simple (cheaper), so until that pushes through I'm not going to mess with much. Hope to keep dpeweb.com alive for awhile though, in the interest of posting about what happened to us as well as some opinion and commentary that perhaps wouldn't have been wise to share when I was actually in business . Should still have dpeweb.com email too, so those that want to keep in touch can still hit phil@dpeweb.com and sales@dpeweb.com and I believe it'll work indefinitely.

Meantime, we'll have another round of stuff up at the ebay store in a week or so, including a few remaining RX-8 items. Nothing too major, just a de-cat pipe, some bushings, a rear swaybar, and maybe a few other small things. Oh, and we've still got a bunch of nice DPE RX-8-specific shift *****, so I'll get those out there too.

Not sure when this specific vendor forum will disappear, but it'll probably be fairly soon. At any rate, thanks again for speaking well of myself and DPE, and hopefully we'll have more interesting info on the site within a couple weeks.
