Whiteline Front Swaybar Bushings for OEM and MS Swaybars!
Prompted by a suggestion from our very own RX8club.com National Autox Champion, DPE and Whiteline have teamed up to bring you polyurethane front swaybar bushings for your OEM or Mazdaspeed-equipped RX-8! These bushings are substantially stiffer than the OEM rubber parts, and will allow your OEM or Mazdaspeed front swaybar to react to driver inputs with greater precision and responsiveness. The bushings are identical to those included with the Whiteline front swaybars, and can be used with the OEM or Mazdaspeed bars which both measure a similar 27mm. The kit includes a pair of front poly bushings, grease, and a Whiteline sticker. Installation is simple and does not require removal of the swaybar. Please do not order these if you already have a Whiteline front Swaybar; you already have these bushings .
The price is $25 shipped, and I have 10 sets available. They can be purchased through our website using a credit card here: http://www.dpeweb.com/ProductDetails...9&vehicleID=58
NOTE: SOLD OUT AGAIN!. None left as of 5/17/06. Will update soon as to when more will be in stock.
If you'd like to use Paypal, send $25 to paypal@dpeweb.com and make sure you mention what you want AND include a phone number for shipping purposes. They will ship either FedEx or Priority Mail.
To install:
- Lift the car up on jackstands or ramps. Easier if you can remove the front wheels, but it can be done without.
- Remove the swaybar-to-chassis bracket nuts (2)
- Remove bracket
- Remove old squishy rubber bushing
- Grease up the inside of the Whiteline bushing. You may want to grease the outside as well. Can't hurt.
- Install bushing over swaybar.
- NOTE: Failed to mention this earlier, but the bushing should be installed with the 'cut' toward the front of the car. This will prevent the bar from trying to pry apart the bushing under load. Not a major concern if you have already installed them the other way, just something to consider redoing the next time you have the front of the car lifted up. (Edit on 3/12).
- Install bracket
- Tighten nuts to 26-37ft-lbs.

This is probably the most benefiical modification for the price. I have aftermarket sway bars, so this won't work for me... but if i still had stock or MS... i would do this in a heartbeat.

Two sets left!
Also please note the addition to the instructions in the first post. Nothing critical, but the bushings should be installed with the cut toward the front of the car. If you have installed them the other way, don't rush out and switch them, just something to do the next time you are working on the front end of the car. I apologize for not making that clear until now.

Why does the cut need to be facing the front of the car?

^ What he said. And in fact, he is the one that brought it to our attention !
I don't think it's a huge issue, as the bushings are pretty firm and aren't readily going to split apart, but over time the bar could start to work them a bit; especially if you drive like a National Champ autocrosser . It's just optimal to have the cut facing forward.
As for if they'll make a difference with an OEM bar, I suspect you will be able to tell the difference. We have not actually tried them on an otherwise-stock car, so I won't speak too soon, but with a firmer bushing the bar will react more rapidly and more precisely as you build cornering forces. This will improve steering feel and responsiveness to a small degree. If someone has had a chance to install them and drive aggressively, please post and tell us what you think!

SOLD OUT!
We do not have any bushings left at this time. The two who ordered this evening with initials BE and ME will get yours shipped out tomorrow. I'll have to check with the warehouse as to when more will arrive, but they are currently out of stock. Thanks for those who ordered, and we'll post when we have more come in. Hopefully in the next couple weeks, but as they are made in Australia it can take a bit longer sometimes .

No worries, I suspect we'll have more in a couple weeks. Small and light stuff often comes over via air freight, which shortens the lead time considerably. And the warehouse may already have more on the way and have them in a few days. I will post when I know for sure.

If it is not too much trouble can you PM me when these are available? I do not want to miss out again.
