**IMPORTANT** pre-orderers read !
*IMPORTANT ALL*
Arrived home from work today to find a new edition of "Mazda" magazine. My other half gets it sent from the marketing people at Mazda because she has an MX5 I guess. Anyway - the important bit is that there is a page on the RX8 with some quite worrying stuff. I will type it all in now -
Title - "The Queue starts here"
"Because the new mazda rx8 is going to offer such incredible value for money compared to all its UK rivals , demand is going to be high when it hits the showrooms later this year.
Which is why Mazda are unveiling a special pre-order website for the RX8 on February 28th , to allow customers to ensure their place at the front of the queue. And for those that order before March 1st , there is even a chance to win a trip to Japan.
The website can be found at www.mazdarx8.co.uk and there you will find pictures , video and a 360 degree interior. If you want to buy a car , you can go to a pre-order webpage, where you will be given the opportunity to configure your car (choosing your engine , colour and optional extras); then you nominate a convenient dealer for collection when your car arrives; and then pay a deposit of £1000 through a secure credit card server.
The benefits are a place at the front of the queue, which means you'll be among the first to drive the new mazdaRX8 on the road; you'll get exactly the specification you want; and if you order before march 1st , you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a trip to the Mazda RX8 factory in Hiroshima Japan !
As if the mazdaRX8 isn't tempting enough"
Other interesting bits "Seven Colours to choose from - The MazdaRX8 comes in 7 different body colours from cool winning-blue to bright lighening yellow. Metallics £300 extra"
---------------------
OK folks - not happy. This is official Mazda stuff (from what I know , the ONLY official stuff I have actually seen concerning the pre-order process).
If definately states - "Place at the front of the queue" for website orders. Where does that leave us dealer depositers ??
So - what do we do come Friday ? Do we trust our dealers (and mine STILL has not contacted me with any news since I placed the deposit) or do we place another order on-line and sort out the resultant mess at a later date if we accidently order 2 cars (although I suspect the Mazda process will stop people ordering more than one). That way we get in the queue even if dealers do not get priority.
I am quite concerned about this......

I've just literally taken the magazine out of the wrapper, and like you are mega concerned.
I spoke to my dealer on Sunday, as I've upgraded to the 240 BHP (thanks to you guys, I didn't want to be left with just a hot hatch, whilst you have got supercars!!!) and he told me he will have to input a dealer code which gives priority, and place my order. but, and heres the question, do I have ultimate faith in my dealer??
I think I'm going to book Friday off work , get down the dealers first think and watch him input the details, its the only way I'm going to be happy
Whats all this about the colour options as well, I thought there were only four to start off??
Saying that if you read it it does say the red is 'performance red paint' whats all that about??Journalists, ha and they get to drive the cars before us paying customers.
Finally though, does that mean we also won't get the benefit of being in the draw for the factory trip.
We need some more answers!!

I also came home to the mag.
For my part, I will call my dealer Thursday and tee up a meeting 1st thing Friday AM. I will not leave without my Official Mazda Order.
Hey a couple of hours off to book my place in history!
Cheers

Likewise, got the mag too.
I agree it is concerning, but I think our orders will go in first as I was told they would be input on friday.
It depends if the web orders go straight onto their system, or have to go to a dealer and be input from there.
I too will try to visit on Friday to find out if mine's gone in.

ps Agree with tinck ,why mention all the colours when we are only getting 4 of them?
