4 Car Review of European Car
#2
Used
Sales levels are fairly low, at up to 8,000 units a year, so used RX-8s will remain rare for quite some time. Its usability, for a high-performance coupe, meanwhile, means that demand will be strong and so residual values are likely to remain high. It's too early to warn of any quality or durability problems but if history is anything to go by, the RX-8 should prove as reliable as other Mazda models.

I think the article looks like an old one though? Sure I saw this months ago.

the review is actually as i see very compliementary and has also swayed me back into the fold.
I just want to be able to "feel" the zoom zoom factor for myself.
And this car looks more and more like a car you can belief in

I think they have updated the previous test of the pre-production model.
A bit concerned that the article constantly refers to 229bhp though, I hope this is a mistake.
Otherwise having read it in detail all appears encouraging.

Also :
So they think residuals will be good for a while.
The hi-power IS 229BHP. or 231ps. same dif (pne ps just under 1 bhp.)
Bit right at the end on stats still states 240ps, so they've not updated the whole article, so it is one I read before but just a refresh.
Residual values are likely to remain strong for a considerable time as demand outstrips supply.

229bhp is correct (its actually 228.5 if I remember) as 231ps = 229bhp.
Before the power reduction it was 240ps or 237bhp.
However, that is a very good review, I dont think Ive read it before.
Cheers

This is an substantial update of the original report I first saw in January. The 8 come out very strong and it is this sort of media information that we require to keep our peckers up.
Interesting to note that they suggested keeping well away from the 'tackie' red and black interior combination - I won't say a word. (

EVO out today, nothing about the RX8 this month so they werent at the Rimini launch.
I presume they wont have a review until the UK launch now which probably will be out in September.

This is an excellent review !!!
Just what I needed to read right now.
The rollercoaster ride may have taken another turn ! (can they do that ???)
If my local honda dealer wasn't such a tit, I might be resigning from this group today. But he is, so I'm not. (I'm not paying a £1500 markup on a 2 year old S2000 just because we've had 2 days of sunshine :o )
But this is really positive. This is based on the european car release, not a pre-production car.
Sure, they've borrowed from an earlier review. They're journalists and the pubs are only open so many hours in the day.:p
But this is good. Hopefully the next few weeks will bring a flood of good reviews in.
Pleeeeeease.

great to see a complimentary review, (the thought that i'm potentially wasting my time waiting has been bugging me recently)
I'm due my professional qualifications result in august so the car has always been my well done gift to myself, can you imagine your kids reaction if christmas was knocked back two months?
well i'm just a big wean so that's how I've been feeling recently

Question:
An insurance rating of 15-16 would equate to what other cars? Is it good or bad?
When I lived in th UK I had a Vauxhall, GTS (I believe was the model) I recall it being in a very high insurance bracket. I don't recall exactly what the number was though. It was only a level or two below a 928 I was contemplating.

Group 15/ 16 would be great as group 20 had been threatened at some earlier point. Down to the 1.3 engine I suppose. Also, seems no tracker requirement at the moment for most quotes seen.
