I'm not so sure that this is all good news. Seems expensive to me.

On another note which do people think will look nicer to polished or brushed aluminium fins and crests? These are the only extras I think I will be able to afford.

Ouch !

Not cheap are they....

A couple of accents , some bonnet dampers (for those oil checks) and a set of mudflaps will not give much change from £500 ! ! !

Sorry - but I will be spending less on the back of this.
As I have said previously , if the accessories were sensibly priced I would buy more.....

Oh , and brushed I think.

Well I could see the list earlier, and now it has gone.
Have mazda pulled the price list ?

I did get a print out earlier, and I have to say the pricing is absolutely outrageous.

I was told I was going to be emailed the Accessories PDF file today and it didnt turn up. Given that, and the fact it went on and off the website may mean there was a last minute hitch.

The prices RX-Late had posted seem a 'little' cheaper than some of the ones announced at the roadshows, but not a lot.

Mazda ... you are having a laugh!!!!!

£65 for a key case?!
£190 for a passenger foot rest!!
£200 for a couple of bits of alluminium scuff plates?!?!?!

Crazy Crazy prices for stuff that costs hardly anything.

The only thing on the list that looks reasonable is the bonnet dampers for £100

Sell this stuff at half the price and you'll probably get 10 times the customers ... Given that the margins must be 80%+ you will be quids in (actually 3.75 times more margin)

Thanks for saying exactly what I was thinking Mr D.... I didnt want to sound negative!

Come on Mazda - £225 for a set of 4 mudflaps! Can I have mine without the gold plating?

Something funny going on here again....

I got a copy of the price list too - but it certainly disappeared a bit sharpish. I think it must have been the real one though , as the prices were reduced (by about £5) in some cases from previous prices I have seen.

Disgusting ! Disgusting ! Disgusting !

Unfortunately , it will be essentials only for me on the basis of this price list.....
Maybe the prices will come down when Mazda realize that most people only buy 2 or 3 items per car and the stocks start to pile up ?

------------

As a footnote , I am quite happy at the moment with everything else - the car appears to be everything I wanted (If I wanted pure performance I would buy an Evo) and absolutely unmatched in the marketplace today. And of course back in a rotary will be heaven ! BUT...... the fly in my ointment is these accessories.

This is the trafficmaster navigation system.

http://www.smartnav.com

It slots into the spare audio system slot. When you want directions you press a button which connects you via its inbuilt gsm to an operator who takes the details of where you want to go. They calculate directions which are then downloaded to your car. It then gives you voice directions (no screen). Very, very simple to use. costs 120 quid a year subscription or 89p per journey.

It has had very good reviews (i think it was autoexpress gadget of the year). Base cost for this unit is £500, so mazda are charging £149 for installation basically.

These accessory prices are outrageous.

£130 odd for an alloy fuel filler cap! Think I'll prize the one off my TT and give that a whirl

IIRC the most expensive Tracker option doesn't cost £1,000 quid from anywhere other than Mazda either.

Some members have questioned why many are so negative, and rightly so. However, you can understand it when Mazda do silly things like this.

First; the only accessory I really want is the hoop spoiler (as can be seen on the US and Canada RX8 sites) and that isn't on the UK list. My dealer says there is quite a bit of demand for it, but he doesn't have any information on if it will be made available.

Secondly; the two tone red leather steering wheel is down as an accessory, but no one seems to be able to confirm if this is included if you have ordered two two red leather seats.

Lastly; the prices are RIDICULOUS, most of these items are tiny pieces of painted plastic or metal, and should not cost more than a fraction of those amounts. I think the RX8 looks great without most of the stuck on plastic parts, but I might have been tempted to drop a hundred or two on some garnishes instead of a personal plate, but that buys next to nothing on that list.

I can only hope the list has been withdrawn from the website, while some slaps some common sense in to the pricing structure.

The list was pulled due to the fact that the price of the RX-8 Key was incorrect.

I have a copy of the official accessories price list that I got from my dealer at lunchtime, and scanning through it seems that the prices that RX-Late posted are in fact, correct

(apart from they key which should be £69.95)

All I can say is that Mazda missed an opportunity here, and I will no longer be considering ordering the majority of the items I wanted.

Should have known the price wouldn't have been less than previously published!

I have a copy of the accessories pricing in PDF format. If anyone wants it then email me, and I'll mail it back to you.

It should be back on the website later today anyway.

On a positive note, Mazda say All prices include parts, painting (where neccessary) fitting, labour and VAT.

Mark, if you order the rear parking sensors, YOU will have to pay for them to be painted. Dealer reliably informs me, which is different to Deby's email a while back. Go figure.

Online the key was listed at £64.95

So let me get this right. Mazda pulled the list because the prices weren't high enough !!!!!!!!!!

That is the funniest thing I have heard all week. Excuse me while I go and cry myself to sleep..........

Ok, I've read through the price list of the accesories. I am totally disgusted by the prices quoted.

Does anybody fancy joining in a letter to Mazda making our feelings known about this and that we should be offer ed something a bit more substantial for the delay of our cars and drop in HP?

See now I'm getting negative!

What do you think?
