Bonnet dampers?.....Wossa fakkin' bonnet damper, innit?

It should be back on the website later today anyway.

On a positive note, Mazda say All prices include parts, painting (where neccessary) fitting, labour and VAT.
It's all up on the website now for your enjoyment and dissappointment.

OMG

I read that they pulled the list because the price of the key was wrong but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the £69.95 originally quoted was too low!!!! 80 quid for a key?!?!?!?!?

On a lighter note I am happy because I was walking down Great Portland Street in London this afternoon and about 5 minutes after wishing I would see my very first 8 on the road I saw one!!!

Who says dreams don't come true?

Folks,

We should point Mazda at their parent site's accessory pages ... Accessories for the Ford range are less than half the price of these.

How do they justify that?

dave we could set up a trade system! many of us in the states would love to have a lip spoiler, like the ones that are standard fit on your cars, but it is not yet available here. now, i can get my hands on the loop spoiler easy. if you could get me a lip spoiler in sunlight silver i could get the loop in the color of your choice. we would have to work out the difference in price, but i am sure we could do so by one of us paying for the shipping

Anyone know what the sports exhaust is? Does it sound different or is it just slightly larger/longer tail pipes?

Dunno, probably just sound as it doesnt mention anything about performance. I think I'll wait to see what else comes out.

Sounds like a good idea, except that the lip spoiler is going to come in the colour of the car, which in my case will be velocity red!

I'm sure a pair of people with matching colours could do a swap.

Cheers

I was interested in this also. Perhaps they are not offering it because of the 4 holes that will need to be taken care of.

We should have guessed this was going to be the case.

I would have bought quite a few things if the prices had been reasonable. As it stands will probably bite my tongue and order the strakes (whatever they are called), bonnet dampers and the crest from the front of the car. Total price: £344.86.

Would have considered: fuel cap, b-pillar crest, air vents and leather hand brake.

I wonder if the dealer will throw in a set of mats?

Oh yeah, some guys selling rx8 valve stems on ebay for only $16 dolars + postage. Might get a set of these as well.

Are the bonnet dampers the same as gas struts? I think someone asked the same Q earlier. In another thread someone from the US said gas struts made his bonnet buckle (or dent, or something) it's made from light alluminuim so the regular oil checking took its toll.

According to the price list the MP3 CD Player upgrade costs £300. Surely they can't ask for that if you've got the high powered model with 6x CD changer as standard? The value of a 6x CD module can't be any less than a CD MP3 player.

To an outsider it seems that Mazda have tuned their prices for the purpose of extorting extra dosh from loyal RX fans. It's a bit like official Robbie Williams or Man U shirts costing double the price of other similar quality products. Taking the p**** in other words because they're pining their hopes on an established fan base.

Would fitting your own accessories invalidate certain aspects of the warrantee? e.g. if you add your own and a year later a coincidental problem develops within that region of the car but you know it has nothing to do with your accessory, will Mazda be able to wriggle out of a repair?

Lastly, for those who haven't yet placed an order, what are the chances of doing a deal on accessories with the dealer at the time of purchase? I don't know how generous dealers are when it comes to obtaining orders for a model that hasn't been launched yet. There must be a huge profit margin looking at the prices, thus plenty of room to negotiate if they really want a sale. I guess one just has to try! Don't ask, don't get.

Thats the conclusion I've come to. I would have been quite willing to spend a few hundred more on some items to make the car more individual (mainly interior, as I think sticking extra bits of plastic on the sides doesn't do anything for the already superb shape), but after seeing the p**** take prices I've decided against all of them.

I suggest that anyone who is tempted waits a few months and see what comes up on the after market, I suspect other firms will be falling over themselves to make tiny bits of ally such as the strakes and rotary highlights, selling them for far less than Mazda and still with a markup of several dozen times. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is anything painted, as it will be tricky to match the mica paint.

The prices of the accessories does worry me to what the cost of the spares will be like. How much will a cracked headlight glass be? And with the price of the tiny bits of stick on plastic, god help you if you need a new bumper.

Cheers

Cool Strakes.....

Mr. RXLATE is right, the guy on ebay who sells the rotary valve caps makes them on a 'CNC' machine, (whatever that is!) and is currently working on copying the strakes.....

That is where mine will come from. I did order some valve caps, nice finish, better than I would expect from a 'milling machine'.

I've tried to find this alleged post using search but to no avail. Can anyone point me at it please? I want the struts but not if they end up in a bent bonnet!

Thanks Doctor - The price of these seems reasonable and he has quoted $6.50 for shipping to the UK. How does the workman ship compare with the genuine Mazda products? Are they exact copies? I take it you are happy with your purchases?

Aha! Thanks very much for that, I don't know how I missed it first time around. Well that's a shame because I liked the look of the struts and now they'll have to go!
