Brands Hatch Today

I went to see the Champcar and TOCA races at Brands Hatch today. There was a Mazda display stand there with a RHD Winning Blue RX-8 on display. Not sure if it was available to sit in because I only passed the stand at the end of the day and they were packing up.

Did anybody hear anything from Mazda suggesting the car would be on view? Or if they intend to display it at future TOCA races ?

I having actually cancelled my order now but I know how keen you guys are to see the car.

Cheers

AAGGHHH ! ! !

Here we are PLEADING to see the car , and they just keep appearing randomly.
Someone must have prior knowledge of where these cars are going to be.

I am getting tired of saying it but "MAZDA - KEEP US INFORMED !"
We know you read this and it really would not hurt to just post on here saying - "here you are chaps , the rx8 will be on display at xxxx if anyone wants to have a look".
Not difficult I would have thought......

Picking my son up late yesterday afternoon after a day at the races from just outside Brands I was surprised to be told by him that the RX8 was on display, presumably for the whole weekend. Too late for me to dive in for a quick look.

This is 5 minitues from where I live and an ideal early oppertunity for me to see the car to satisfy some of my open questions.

Why were we not told!! It's bad enough that we get **** all information from Mazda UK but a quick heads-up by them that the car would be on view at the south east prime racing track on a bank holiday would have got many off us down there for a look!

How much worse can the Mazda PR machine get!!

rael.

What's the point in having a 'News' section on their wretched website if it isn't used for important information like this?! Nissan wrote to me to say exactly where the 350Z will appear in the next few months yet Mazda are pathetically silent. Mazda UK are really ruining this experience for so many people and we should think of some way of fighting back. How can we organise ourselves to irritate THEM the most and achieve some kind of customer service rather than the ****-take we have at the moment?

That is a little bit annoying to say the least.

Brands is a bit too far for me, but like Rael I would be well pi$$ed off if I found out the car had been virtually on my door step all weekend.

On a more postitve note, I spoke to my dealer on the weekend and he said something about Mazda trying to set up some dates where people can go and view the car, so there is still hope.

I just wish it would be sorted out and someone would tell us!

Besides canceling our orders I don't know but they need a sharp short shock? Just hope the car has had more thought and planning than their marketing excercise!

The Mazda was going to be a "sensible" replacement for my Lotus Elise but I can't bring myself to sell it. So I am going to get some kind of hatchback to run as a shopping car and keep the Elise for fun.

I still think the RX-8 is a fine car and am still going to test drive one anyway when it comes out. Just cannot justify RX-8 and Elise at the moment ( We run an MPV as well for the family).

Cheers

Same here Rob.

I cant justify 2 cars, and any 2nd car would be a lotus elise (S1 , none of that S2 crap , or possibly a caterfield..).

Shame I can realy only have 1 car (and it needs to be a little sensible), so its gona be an RX8

It is inexplicable - at first I thought they may be taking the view that they already had our money so why be nice to us ? i.e. they dont have to bother.

But that does not make sense.
If I were still in the market for a car but undecided I would be looking at forums just like this one.
From reading this forum I would see a car company that simply does not give a monkeys about their customers. This in turn would lead me to question whether this is the sort of company I really want to deal with - particulalry with something as radical as a rotary RX8...

Fortunately for them I do still want the car - if my lust for it had faded however - i would be cancelling on the basis of Mazdas [lack of] PR. If this is how we are treated before we have spent our cash what on earth will happen once they have it ?
Naff all I expect.....

Morgan.

PS - Brands is less than an hour from me , would have certainly made the effort.

PPS - Lazy , good-for-nothing , innefficient , uncommunacative (etc...etc.... mumble, grumble , moan.....)

Got a bit off topic here...., but I used to have a Westfield for fun which only came out on sunny weekends etc, and drive around in a 406 during the week.

My view was slightly different, in that I only got to drive the Westy on nice weekends which was very little between October to March.

I decided I would rather have one car that I could enjoy driving every day regardless of weather and practicality, hence two Impreza's and now the RX8 (hopefully).

That was pretty much my thinking too. Over the winter I made quite a few business trips and the only time I used the Elise seemed to be arriving back at a freezing airport at midnight and then driving round the M25 in the rain. In those conditions the Elise was a complete pain, hence the interest in the Mazda which would be fun and practical in all conditions.

However, I then cleaned it up ready to sell, took it for a drive on a sunny day and realised I wanted to keep it. If I could run an RX-8 as well I would but that will have to wait. Short term it looks like I will add a Ford Ka to my collection. At least my driving licence will be safer.

And with the money I save I can go for the stage 2 supercharger which will bump the power up from 190hp to 230hp. The car only weighs 750kgs .....

Cheers

Seems to be one of the Formula Woman cars.

As I've pondered in another thread before, is Mazda UK just one of a number of organizations with RX-8s in the UK. Formula Woman and perhaps Mazda Europe being two others.

And if so, does the left hand know what the right hand is up to?

If the RX-8 is going to be at the Motor Drive Live event which of the above agencies will be responsible. Should we press them for confirmation?

Oh God... The first exposure of the RX-8 to the public of the UK and it's got 'Formula' bloody 'Woman' plastered all over it. I could cry...

I fired off an email last night to Mazda, stating that we are all not very happy and asking for an update.

I will let you know as soon as I get any reply.

Just having read Lensman's post I now know I'll see the car at Motor Drive Live next bank holiday (as long as I get there before he torches it if it's the formula wimmin car!) so I'm a lot happier.

However I'm still annoyed with Mazda UK so I will be very interested in any response you get Mark, well done for calling, I almost called them myself this afternoon.

Looks like we're not the only ones being treated somewhat poorly: have a look at this.
