Call from Chris Twine

Put a call in this morning, and Chris called me back. I should point out he was very coutious and helpful. They key points from the conversation where;

1. Not able to give a firm delivery date, my car was not at the port yet, not sure when it would be there. Lead time from port to dealer not more than 15 days.

2. 85% chance I would get my car in November. I asked why they could not promise November, and he pointed out they would be mad to promise. I pointed out that they already had promised November!

3. I asked what they would do about a loan car if the car was not with me in November. He said speak to the dealer... I said I felt it was down to Mazda UK, not my dealer. He said he would speak to my dealer.

4. Should have a clearer picture next week when the boat has docked.

In short, no firm delivery - should be November, but not definate. I will leave my decision till next week.

One half says they are taking the mick, and I should cancel. The other half says I have waited this long.

We shall see.

He couldnt say exactly when nmy boat would dock, but that he would be able to be more specific next week - suggesting it was docking next week. To be honest I was so angry I want listening to him towards the end.. As I just mentioned in the other thread the UK cars are not all on the same boat, and appear to have been loaded onto boats by manufacture time, not by original order time.

So the last 3 weeks ahve been all total bullshit.

No letter with delivery date has ever existed because they still dont know.

So what the hell is the 'dates' the dealer 'systems' are being uploaded with by the typing monkeys?

Cars arnt even in the country yet! What the hell are they playing at? Dont know when they will be, and 15 days later the dealer may have them?

So 9th november, + 15 days + dealer PDI = very late nov at least?

Bah. More mad than ever now, wtf do they always lie to us for?

So when I phone my dealer thursday/friday when their computer litarate guy is back from AL what will they tell me?

I know we've joked in the past about the "Iraqi Information Minister" tendency at Mazda, but this is getting ridiculous. Does this company have any integrity whatsoever?

It's not just Mazda UK. In the US they have systematically lied about the car's horsepower output, at one point even putting out deliberate disinformation to try to imply that it wasn't possible for anyone but them to accurately measure the power. An engineer has now admitted (off the record) that the US cars do not make 238 hp. Can we believe anything anyone in Mazda tells us?

Great solid reliable car, very heavy but with enough power to move it rapidly enough, But deadly boring, the driving expreiance just isn't there, the 4wd ensure it pulls away and goes round corners with absolutely no danger of encoutering any excitment. Eminently suitable for the older professional, late 40's early 50's, with large wallets for servicing costs.

If you like that, the RX8 really isn't for you. Its aimed at people who would still like to beleive they are in their twenties, despite any slight hinderances such as a couple of kids, want something that looks great and can provide that can put a smile on your face when driving on any road. (But without looking like a 17 year old baseball cap wearing hot hacth driver).

A luxuary barge to whaft you in to midle age, it isn't.

Cheers
---Dave
