Cancelled :(

Found out late yesterday that the final delivery of my blue RX-8 has been pushed back to January. I was expecting it to be ready today. I'm forced to cancel at this point because I'm off to the USA with work towards the end of Jan for nearly a year, possibly longer, so the car would just be shedding large chunks of money with no way for me to drive it except on very occasional trips home.

I'd been convincing myself that if I could have it before Xmas and get a good month's worth of fun out of it, the expense would be justified, but even that was a bit of a stretch. The really galling thing is that the poor thing has been sitting out in the rain and snow at the dealer for a couple of weeks now, waiting for them to slice through Mazda/DVLA red tape. Nothing moves quickly enough at this time of year.

Very disappointed of course, but it does mean I can pick up a fresh one, hopefully with any Mk I niggles ironed out, sometime next year or early in '05. Maybe a new and improved version will be out by then as well. If I'm feeling flush, perhaps I'll try to rent one for a little while I'm in the USA. I'll keep an eye on the forums here just to see how people are getting on.

Enjoy your cars, safe driving and have a Merry Christmas!

Real sahme lurcher, but it's not all bad. Like you said, by then hopefully all the faults will be rectified and you can get a brand spanking new one.
Merry Christmas.

I'm shocked it's taken that long. My car arrived on the 5th and the dealer had it ready for me to take on the 10th. It was only down to the idiot finance company that decided not to give me credit (after clearing me) at the last minute that delayed my delivery until yesterday...

Everything happens for a reason - shame about that but never mind - get a fresh one when you return - it probably worked out for the best !
They will probably stick a fat turbo on it next year, improve economy to 70mpg some how, have leather and a stainless exhaust as standard in the price (ha!)

I am ordering mine seperately. The only dealer in the country is TW Whites who are asking £5,800 fully fitted.

I have ordered mine from Japan and getting my dealer to fit. Quite a bit more hassle but saves some cash - so means can get some other extras :D

Don't get mine till March though so having to wait. Why you considering??
