I'll be surprised, (but happy for him) if that happens. I think that is date to port surely?

I'm sure it is.

But as your in America, and put the date in an american format, may we assume that you'll be taking delivery on another continent...

The RX-8 is old news in US, please dont wind us up.

What makes you think 10/14/03 is an american date, it is in fact the tenth of Rotorber. In order to ensure that all deliveries are made by the end of the year at the very latest, Mazda have added a few more months. My delivery is expected on the forty sixth of Renesuary (46/16/03)

January :(

"Probably January" is the best my dealer can offer at the moment - at least he's honest! The blues/greens/yellows haven't even shown up on their computers yet. Mid-November for launch colours. They say they have 30 on pre-order which sounds pretty good to me - and nobody has cancelled so far because of the delays, so he says.

Dealer called yesterday - car should be with them 29/10 and with me 5/11

He did stress that this is currently a should rather than a definite will - but here's hoping :D

Got the date today

Should arrive at the dealer 5th December if all goes well?!?!?

Car was manufactured 30/9 ... So only took 92 days from order to being manufactured!!

Not bad considering my letter from Mazda said November delivery. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Apparently it was taking 15 days to get cars from Sheerness once the boat had landed. Shipment from Rotterdam to dealers is only 7 days, hence the change.

Talking

Email waiting for me when I arrived home tonight!

Car in the country 17/12/03 and should be ready for pick up 2 weeks later. :D
(Although I'd be surprised if the Xmas holidays dont get in the way of that!)

This is pretty much in line with what my dealer told me to expect when I ordered in mid September, although I must admit I took it with a pinch of salt at the time.

Not bad when you consider you are only getting your car a month later than people who ordered 8 months earlier!

I can help with that. Give the car to me.

I promise I'll return it in 2007 when mine arrives.

Delivery date still unknown - BUT!

Heres the deal - from my dealer.

I have a date of 26/10/03.

Thats the date people are talking about. Its the date the cars are released from port for delivery.

Delivery can take up to 15 days, but quite often is less (sometimes as little as 3 days).

Add a day or two for dealer PDI, and I get my car between 1/11 and 13/11 or so.

May even have it for my wedding aniversery weekend 8th november.

Heres Hoping!

For the sake of your marriage, it would be better if it arrived on the 13th.

Remember if she divorces you because you've spent all weekend admiring the car instead of her, she might get the car in the settlement!

Cheers

Question Let's have it all in one place

I have just spent far longer than I intended massaging the list in the EP Register ! Add yours... thread into a sensible layout. Might I suggest that delivery dates go there now?

I'm not having a go at you Rob but if this were the case then Mazda clearly are NOT sorting out the cars in pre-order order. I'm sure they said they were endevouring to do this. It's sounds as if your dealer is just telling you the date for the first cars not your car - did he have a VIN for you?

I dont think mazda will be to worried about a week here or there on order preference.

It looks like red (and/or red with red leather) is getting here later than the titanium cars.

Dealer was talking about my car because it was a conversation about delivery and sale of a car to me, what would be the point of him telling me there getting some cars 26th(+) but not mine?

I know I ordered later than some (I'm somewhere in the first 1000, but def not the first 500). I also know its not great if I get my car before others who ordered a whil ebefore me - but if the cars are coming in batches of colour, with a few days (or weeks) seperation then I'd class that as mazda doing their best to keep to pre-order list withing confines of efficient production?

(my car is a BASIC model, not even leather, the paint is the only factory 'option' - mebbe thats why its relativly early?)

Most likely I wont see my car until 10-15th Nov, and most preorders will have their cars no later than two weeks after that (my guess - if I get mine then that is).

From mazda's pov, I dont think they'll see this as a problem. I certainly aint gona let my car sit at the dealers while the other 700+ orders get filled

Now if Titanium Grey gets told a later date (same colour, same dealer - but with leather I think) then I do believe he's got a right to be upset!

Dear All,

My local dealer just called me and I have been invited to come to Mazda Holland in The Hague to look at the first RX8 in Holland.
I will go on tuesday next and I hope they will let me sit behind the wheel for a moment. Driving is out of the question.
The arrivel of this car does not mean others will follow soon.
I have to wait for my car another 2/3 months.
I know al lot of you have seen the car in the flesh or even driven in one, for me this is the first encouter. I am looking forward to it and will let you all know what I felt about it.

All the best.

Eric

hello eric, glad you're getting to see it at last.

but in the mean time wooo hoooo:D

my dealer just called (out of the blue)

he's got chassis my number and is expecting my car 30.10.03

(although he warns that I should treat this with a touch of salt, but should comfortably manage the first 2 weeks in nov)

apparently car has cleared customs at rotterdam and will be making it's way to shearness, prior to the official launch and then then the onward trip up to sunny stirling.

he's asking for my number plate retention documents ASAP

that's put a smile on may face for the weekend.

You might have had a slightly easier time selling your MX5 in July than in November.

Speak to Mazda direct and see if they will offer any compensation. They hinted to me that they would, but only after I said I didn't have a car to sell. I've been renting for most of the last year thinking "it's only a couple of months away".
I'm this >< far away from cancelling. It's EP182 and due "next month", but I'm that hacked off with the dealer.

If this is what they are like in sales mode what's the after sales going to be like.
