Delivery Information For European Cars
There are quite a few threads discussing whether our cars have finished production, are they on the boats, how many boats are there, how many cars etc.
I though it would be a good idea to have a sticky where the latest information (rumour/speculation) can be posted so people don't have to trawl too much to find out what we know.
I will be quite ruthless editing this thread to keep it on topic. General bitching about Mazda will therefore have to go elsewhere
Other 'delivery' threads will also be closed.
If this is getting a bit authoritarian, just PM me. I am a bleedin heart liberal after all......

OK - Here goes...
Mazda promis 240ps cars in July.
last 'promis' was production on 28th July to 20th Aug, shipping soon after. Delivery 'late' October/November. I remember someone saying ALL preorders of Hi-power 1st wave colours get their cars in November.
Currently we have no idea if cars are anywhere near a ship, or there on two.
Ordering now gets you one in either December or March, depending on who you ask.
Cars are still officialy 231ps, and Auz cars are stil officialy 240ps, until someone dyno's them.

These are excerpts from emails received directly from Mazda, so can be considered factual at the date fo writing I guess:
12/8/03
"The first cars are the dealer cars and these will be on the water on the 20th - the next production month (1,000 cars) will be on the water roughly a month after"
"at present we have scheduled production in such a way that all
our pre-orders are produced in the order we asked for - high power first, low power next along with blue, yellow etc. This ensures we will get cars to preorder customers first and will have no unallocated stock from the first 2-3 months production lying around."
Delviery dates have now been allocated - however we can only indiciate month and have been cautious with the dates so we allow ourselves some slack - once we have communicated these dates we can then follow up with a more precise date once the car is on the water"
28/7/03
"We won't be able to give customers the precise date of their
cars delivery but we will be able to indicate delivery month as we can determine this from the production month. The most important thing then is the ready to ship date - once we have this we can give a more accurate indication of delivery date into the UK. Therefore we will inform customers initially of their delivery month and then once we have further more precise info we can then pass this onto customers. By following this process we intend to ensure the most efficient distribution and delivery of vehicles to dealers and customers. Any orders ongoing will
also be on a sold order basis only so we will hopefully not have any stock lying about on dealers forecourts"
There are a lot more going back in time but there is no point me digging out old emails any more.

okay just contacted Mazda again and tried the nicey nicey approach.
You are going to be VERY disappointed guys.
DONT expect your car until Mid November at the earliest (very earliest)
They are still making the cars at the moment. US / JAP production over ran by 3 weeks. In some cases our cars are still either on the animals still (leather) or/and as molten steel.
31st October is the earliest the ships will land in the UK. (obviously this is going vary when it comes nearer).
This is why we havent recieved anything from then because its all bad news once again and Mazda dont like bad news.
The story of the UK following in the footsteps of the US is not going to happen she said all cars will be allocated. The ship will be transporting the european allocation not just the UK ( the feeling i had was its a single ship not 2)

OK: I phoned the helpline and was told that delivery of the first cars will take place in late October as expected. They are sending out letters next week to say that this is so but they claim to know nothing about the promised information about a definite month of delivery for individual cars. If any of this is true then we've been screwed again and they've not learnt a damned thing from the last protest that we made. I'm hopping mad!

OK, I've done what I said I'd do and pruned non-information posts from this thread. I know we all have a lot to say right now, quite justifiably, about mazda but this thread isn't the place to do it.
Try looking here
https://www.rx8club.com/europe-forum-36/general-mazda-bitchin-thread-9806/
I can't move individual posts, so I just deleted them.

Hi All - Well this is my first post so hope it works OK
My dealer says that they are picking up their demo car at Silverstone on 27/10 and that I will have my car around this date :D
Print should be with us in second week of September.
No compensation from Mazda UK is being offered
No test drives either
Anyone know of a dealer down south with cars to drive?

"Dear Mr Dickinson
Thank you for your e-mail dated 28th August 2003.
With regard to the delivery date for your Mazda RX-8, you (and other
pre-order customers) will be receiving a letter within the next 48
hours
giving more specific delivery information. I am unsure where you got
the information
that production for UK vehicles is 3 weeks late as this is not the
case.
With regard to the situation in the USA regarding the advertised power
output of the Mazda RX-8, this situation does not apply in the UK as
the
advertising and marketing of this model is vastly different from the
UK.
The top RX-8 model for the UK has been homologated at 231ps (at the
flywheel).
As you a senior members of the RX-8 Forum I am sure that this reply
will
be posted on the website in order that other members are aware of the
situation.
Yours sincerely

Just to update you all,
I spoke to Mazda Uk again yesterday, they assured me that all
pre order cars have left japan (true or not who knows). We shall
expect delivery end of october early november. I think we should contact somebody like watchdog - regarding compensation - then we will see if Mazda take any notice of us frustrated buyers. What do you all think?

I'm sure Chris Twine knows more about whats going on than the dealers. Lets wait for these letters to turn up before we blow any fuzes.

I've had the letter: Delivery DECEMBER
Date ordered: 4th March
Colour: Velocity Red
Seats: Red Leather
192ps
RX8-200204
Dissapointed but not suprised that I have to wait until December.
I would have thought an explanation and apology for another delay would have been forthcoming.
Oh well I have the test drive to look forward to today.
Topic.

EP Numbers and Delivery
OK, let's try to make sense of this.
EP407, High Power, Black, Leather, Sunroof, November.
I thinkk that if we compile this list we may see some patterns.
