DSC - Very annoying thing
Well DSC is great for wet road conditions and as we all know how bad RWD can be in slippery conditions.
I went out in the dry for a spin and found that when flooring out of a corner the revs buold up but as soon as the traction kicks in the revs suddenly drop and the system takes over. All very well but very slightly disconcerting at speed. I was thrust towards the steering wheel and hit the horn!
I am not going to be driving with this on during the summer and when the road conditions are good.
Anyone esle noticed this pish poor feature.

Sorry, havnt noticed this at all, mebee I'm not caning it enough in the dry , out of corners.
But TC and DSC are very leniant IMO, I've had some spin and back end loss of traction where the gadgets havnt cut in at all.

This felt like "fuel cut"

You didnt just bounce off the rev limiter did you? I havent done this yet, nor have I heard the buzzer as I keep seeming to run out of road at 9,000 (and still rising). I have hit the limiter in previous cars and it is like putting the brakes on.

This sounds like the rev limiter.
On my S2000, the VTEC system is not allowed to work until the temperature guage shows 3 bars of heat. If you try to exceed 5500 rpm before then, the rev limiter cuts in and snaps your neck/bruises your forehead. It really is violent especially in 1st gear.
If your DSC is doing this and you aren't near the rev limit, has the RX8 got a lower rev limit when cold? or maybe the DSC has a fault.
I shall try my hardest to stress the DSC on my RX8 test drive if the sales guy will let me!

There is a limit of 6000rpm when cold, and you get a similar sharp fuel cut off as you do at the rev limiter just under 10000rpm.
The DSC traction control is far less harsh, just making the rear end shudder - although I've only had it kick in under fairly moderate power. I don't know what it is like flooring the throttle when coming off a wet roundabout - I'd want to check it can actually catch that on a skid pan on the track day, before trying it on a publuc road.
Cheers

I can confirm that the TCS/DSC can and sometimes does reduce the power dramatically, just as is being described. If you just get a little taily, it dabs the brakes to bring you back in line, but if you get majorly out of shape, it can and will cut the available power dramatically, and it takes a second or two for it to return.
I speak from 1st-hand experience, having forgotten to disengage the DCS on a couple of autocross runs.

You can also simply do the smart thing, and press that little button 7 times to disengage DSC ![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
A logical and sensible mind is ALWAYS millions of times better and safer than *any* electronic system.
Not to mention that I dont like *anything* or anyone messing with my mAd dRiviNg sTyLe!!!!! :D

The car was not cold when I hit that roundabout and for me the DSC is far too much of an intervention which I don't need. I like to feel the back end slide and then control it myself rather than some fancy computer system.
Quick test for you lot who haven't felt it. Find a reasonalby good surface (not wet) and drop the clutch at 5k and then turn the wheel as if to snake up the road, wait till the DSC intervenes and find yourself thrown towards the wheel at a great rate of knots.
Repeat above with DSC off and tell me which is the most fun!

The DSC is there to catch unexpected road conditions and when you are applying slighly too much power during normal driving.
If you want to try out the leary stuff, make sure its safe, switch DSC off, and expect the consequences!
