Extras, kits 'n' audio

OK, I have searched and I'm sorry but this is a list of questions for those who have pre-ordered/know more than I (not hard!)...

Is Mazda UK offering the 'appearance package' ? I think that's what they call it in the States (front air dam etc). Or are they just offering the items individually?

Are there any rear spoiler/wing options?

Is the mazdaspeed kit available fitted by Mazda? And how much? See piccy...

Stock audio features a 6-disc changer? Does this rule-out an mp3 option? (shame if it does)

Was at Mazda dealers on Friday. They had only just received the accessory catalogue!! Presume will have to order separately & get Mazda dealer to fit (another few grand)

Don't know if you've been on japan wesite but you can choose all accs from there & see them on car. Include Mazda & mazdz soeed parts.

mazda.co.jp/accessory/garage

Cheers

A few of the members have been told at the viewing days that the Accessory prices include fitting. (Possibly realised how overpriced they were and are now saying fitting is included to make them a little less of an assault on our wallets)

To get a figure just for the part take Mazda's hourly rate for service work and multiply by the estimated the fitting time, then take this off the initial price. EASY!

Accessories - There is an accessory brochure out, but no mention of packages as yet. I have asked this question of Mazda directly and am awaiting a reply.

Rear spoliers - there are no offical ones in the catalog, but Im sure it wont be long before they are available one way or the other.

Mazdaspeed - Not in the catalog, but one of the guys on here has imported one through his dealer, so best ask your delaer direct.

MP3 - You can have a CD/MP3 unit INSTEAD of your 6 disc CD but not as well as it goes in the same place. However, you can have a Mini Disc or Casette AS WELL as the 6CD. This is I think bad design as many people would like 6CD and MP3, myself included.

Cheers
Mark

Mazda told me today that they are looking at accessories to see if they can offer anything differently to how it is currently being indicated.

Hopefully we should have some news over the next few weeks if this is the case.

I'd settle for just 'reasonably priced' instead of current insanity !

I really like black on this car... BUT there's the cleaning thing (had black before and know what a bugger it is to keep clean when you're as fussy as I am!), and the front lip thingy, along with other kit doesn't stand out too well on the black. I had originally thought I'd go for Tit Grey, but the blue looks pretty good too... how's a guy supposed to pre-order if he can't make up his mind over the colour :D

I drive a silver car at the moment and I fancy a change. The red and yellow aren't really 'me'. The green could be the one... there are some awesome pictures of it on the forum. It's a mica (gold flake) so should look great under light/sunlight.... gotta see one... any one :D

That's why I so love this car!!

It has 4 seats which means that I can take the kids out! My son is a real fanatic so I just don't take him out until he's cleaned the car!!

EASY!! Kevin the teenager does RX8!!

Playing around with " JP garage" I thought that the chrome accessories made the black the colour to have. Probably have to re-mortgage the house to get the chrome alloys though!!

I think that the green will be very rare. I liked it (Was one of my favourites) but Mrs Rich606 didn't.

Seems v unfair to have to choose when you cannot see. Only alternative would be to wait until October or fly to States/Japan/Australia. As have just booked a week in caravan at Scarborough have no leave left!!!

It is very difficult to choose a colour when you havent seen it, I know.

A lot of us had to choose back in February when there were no cars, no colour samples and very few photos!

I initially started thinking Titanium, then Black and changed to Red primarily 'cause I wanted the two tone leather as I find all black interiors a bit opressive. having seen it Im more than happy with it, and I think the car looks good in all the colours.

I think Green will be quite rare, as will yellow because it is too in yor face for most.

Maybe they will bring out more colours next year. I wonder if they will have special editions every 3 months like the MX5 does?

Evil,

That kit you posted in the pics isn't the Mazda "appearance" package but the Mazdaspeed kit.

I was able to order one through my dealer (T W Whites) since they are quite relaxed on the whole Japanese Import side of things and do a lot of dealings with Japan because of this. They picked up a couple of kits in each colour (they come pre-painted) when the dealer manager went over there for the car's Japanese launch.

I expect if you speak to them they could get you a kit, if it's the one you're after. If you mean the slightly more subtle 'Mazda' kit, then I believe it will be available over here, and should be comfirmed when we receive the accessory details later this month (?).

Renoir, why does the cost include painting? The kits are produced in Japan already painted (except the mirrors which can be ordered in "primer" ready to paint).

Or was this a mistake? - in which case can the kit be ordered for £1700 ready-painted?

Well I gave the details to Whites to get the kits from Japan, and yes, at the moment I have yet to be confirmed a price.

I will wait to see what they offer but will bare your prices in mind. Also, on that subject - what would the price be including mirrors, as I have ordered these too and would want them as part of the kit?

I only mentioned the fact that the parts can be bought painted as I would prefer to get them factory-painted as there is a greater chance of it being a perfect match for the rest of the car. Not doubting your bodyshop or whomever will be doing the painting, just a personal preference.

As for being loaded... I wish! Far the opposite! (the TVR more than sees to that!)
