First Few hundred

Brain dump in no particular order...

Following the manual and Rob's advice, I am sticking below 7k, been up there a couple of times, and the noise is fantastic - sounds like a motorbike. Very addictive.

Dealer only gave me 1/3 tank, so I used that up, and have just brimmed it with Optimax (any more info on whether this is worthwhile?). Will let you all know the economy of the first tank - but to be honest - I couldnt care less!!!!!!

Driving position is comfortable, but havent quite got it right yet - feels a little high, but this may be due to the very enclosed feeling of the TT thanks to the even higher door lines.

Cannot fault the quality of the plastics and the interior. Sat Nav is easy to use, and accurate. We did fall out over the route from West London to Reigate initially as the bird wanted to take me M4 rather than M3, but other than that, it was perfect, taking me to within feet of my girlfriends house.

Gearbox is easily as good as I remember the MX5. My Girlfriend is conincidentally having an MX5 delivered next week, so I will be able to compare (2004 6 speed).

As has been said many times before, car does not feel it is going as fast as it is. The Road ANgel is plugged in. I can also more or less close the ashtray lid with it plugged in too, which is good.

Bose. To all those who say it isnt much cop; B*llocks! Seems plenty good enough to me. Audiopilt seems to work too.

Brakes are excellent, which they should be - have you seen the size of the disks??! Car feels much more direct and "darty" than the TT. Not really had a chance to drive on twisties yet though. Like the dials - red at night etc.

Only niggles (and they are minor). Lux mats - the thing to hold it down needs one end to be screwed down under the seat base - but the seat base has to come out to do it - you are JOKING!?! Miss the flick Audi key and alarm doodah all in one. No need for a seperate fob in this day and age.. Rear blind spot quite large.

Other than that I am delighted. Will take some pics over the weekend.

Got half the office to take for demo's today...

Tata

I'm pretty sure Optimax doesn't improve fuel economy - I got 17 mpg on it so I hope not, I'd hate to think it would be even worse on 95 RON. It may improve the performance though, but I'd need more familiarity with the car before I can judge that.

I've noticed no difference at all with the 2 tanks of optimax I've tried.

95 for me from now on.

(and I DID notice a marked difference with opti on my focus).

That's what i was originally told, but it ain't so.

My dealer has discussed this with Mazda UK, and the retaining clip WILL fit.

My car is booked in on Saturday morning so that the person with the smallest hands (actually one of the sales team) can fit the retaining clip.

They have done this already on their demo cars.

I use Optimax 98 in my S2000 and have to admit notice no difference between that and normal Super Unleaded 97 but you should notice a difference going down to 95 Octane Unleaded??

I only ever used normal unleaded once and got pinking in the engine, not sure whether you would get that in the RX but surely it should only be run on Super Unleaded?

Nope, unlike the AudiTT etc, the manual clearly states minimum 95 ron.

Having tried optimax and normal 95 I'm not bothering with anything else other than 95 for now.

It may make a difference when the weather warms back up.
