Patrick,

By 'self-made', do you mean that you fitted them yourself or that you actually designed and made the parts from scratch?

Hi,

I designed these, made them and fitted them myself, all home-made. The only thing I bought at my dealers was the alu rotary-symbol under front bumper. I must say I also tried to make it myself but it is a very complex 3D form. I tried it for the rear symbol (with fog-light) as well but there I have the same 3D problems. I will keep trying. The difficult thing is making the "FORM", the rest is working with inox, alu, epoxy, polyester, special paints, ... and a lot of patience.

regards,
Patrick

Yes, IKN, sure. But you know, if you look very closely, I think that you can see that I made it myself. I want to be humble.

You shouldn't be humble Patrick.
To buy those things is one thing, but to make it as well as you did is another.

Be proud !!!!!!

Patrick,

Seeing your pictures, you have been busy !

I still wasn't informed by my dealer of a BeNeLux ...
It seems they known but ... not very proactive !

Baphi

Hi Baphi,

Yes they know, I mailed them all a winword-letter in dutch and french that they could present to there clients of the 8.

There are two obstacles : first of all there are at this moment not that much cars sold and perhaps more than that, they may fear that comming together could make us stronger in actions against them. If so, I don't know why as I presume we are all car-fanatics at least car-lovers. So I think we would just do things together (ex. driving on circuit) and share our passion.

regards,
Patrick

Hi All,

Very nice work Patrick !
I am very interested by the way you painted your brakes and the color you used. Did you apply another paint before the red one ?

On my side, I scratched my 8 but on the ground side (so not visible). As the car is quite low, you have to be careful. I saw some paint on the ground and a kind of "caoutchou" has been removed. I think I have to get this repaired in order to not have "corrosion". Does somebody have any advice ?

cheers

Hi RenesisMSA,

I used special calliper-paint, 2 components from Motip. You can have it in spray, but I have taken it to apply with a pensil. Drying, it covers your callipers with a epoxycoating. In the same bow you have a spray to clean the callipers and after drying you can immediately apply the 2 comp. paint. Price : 24 EUR.

On the other hand I have to ditches in my left and one very small in the right doors (parking). Does someone know about a elestic strip I could paint in the same color as the car and apply ?

regards,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for info. Did you buy it at AutoSport ***** ?

Sorry to hear that you have some ditches. Some people on parking place don't really care on the car located next to them, this is really upsetting me.

Yes, I bought it there. You can have it in different colors; I had to order red (took 3 weeks).

Mazda Sales Europe

On the Dutch Mazda site, ther is a letter about Mazda's progressive salesfigures.
Mazda claims to have sold, until now, in Europe, 6000 RX 8's.

Reading that figure, we can expect a very crowded first Europe Meeting .........

If you can read in Dutch, look at www.mazda.nl - nieuws.

Hi all,

I was near Arnhem (in the east of Holland) yesterday and I visited a local dealer in Zevenaar. Very nice salesman who talked with love in his voice about the RX8. He didn´t know about the existance of this forum of the link on the mazda.nl site that Eric had have put there. He was very enthusiast about a club or meeting and said that he would pass this information to the owners that he had sold a Titanium and a Yellow. So, maybe we can welcome some new members sometime next month.
He congratulated us all with our choice!

But then again, in Haarlem (I think about 90.000 inhabitants), the dealer who is also a Nissan dealer, sold eight 350Z but no RX 8´s. He wanted to know all about why my choice was the 8, while his is the 350Z.

Well, yesterday was the 20th. Antoon should drive his 8 by now, will we hear from him soon? I must admit, I´m a little jealous, still waiting for mine....

Kind of funny :
My father's best friend, a 65 old chap, fell in love with the 8 and is going to order one this week. Same low power Tit Grey as mine!

Reassuring :
I read an old AutoGids/Moniteur Auto featuring a test of the Seat Leon Cupra 4 (V6 2,7l - 204 hp - 270N.m - Haldex AWD system - 7,8s 0-100kph). During the test, they averaged 13,7l/100km. The same magazine averaged 13,8l/100km with the 192 hp RX8. In conclusion, our RX8 is not that bad in real world fuel economy after all!

So much easier if we wear our red RX-8 T-shirts then! (Like the rest of the 1200 Velocity Red owners).
Is there, somewhere in Europe, a place big enough to show 6000 RX-8 at one day? You see, my backyard is to small, so we must meet somewhere else. Other options?
Rgds,
Caecil

Not surprising. Colour for those who does not want to stand out too much in the crowd...

It weren't my everyday car with which I sometimes visit customers, I'd choose a Winning Blue because the RX8 deserve to be noticed!

IKN,
You think they will notice a red? It is going to be my everyday car and I also have to visit clients sometimes, some of them are on welfare or disability pension, but I really don't care about the remarks some people make. I guess it depends on your kind of business or trade. My clients want something from the local government. Perhaps if I had to sell them something, I didn't want them to feel that they pay me too much!
I think a RX 8 will always be noticed by car-interesed people, no matter what color, although I must admit that even nearly blind people will notice the yellow ones!

By the way, wish my father had friends like your father does! That would make conversation on birthday partys of my parents so much more interesting!
