ftp.fsck.co.uk

U/P = rx8:mazda

You need to upload into the "incoming" directory, then P/M me so I can put it in the general area... I should have another higher res version later too..

DIVX's up.

Fairly mediocre, but 5 minutes 19.7 seconds of someone being thrilled with the car!

ftp://rx8:mazda@ftp.fsck.co.uk/pulli...er_320_240.avi

If you really must have these, then there are higher res versions, but I'd ask that you think about mirroring before downloading these as I imagine there will be a few people after them and my bandwidth is limited.

Thanks to bugbear for the first 2 files...

IMHO I thought the reveiw was encouraging and it was good to hear the engine noise at the top end of the rev range (despite Michelle Newman's constant chatter)

I think Mazda dealers will be expecting some more interest / pre-orders today (well in ITV regions that receive the programme)

Roll on Driven and Top Gear.

It was a very positve review of the car, but poor from a journalistic point of view. Pulling Power makes driven look good!

For those of who who havent seen it and unable to download, it was a Vel Red Euro spec car, so must have been shot in Europe at the launch.

The first 30 seconds was just Michelle Newman taking the car to 9000rpm with shots of the rev counter. We all want to see this once or twice, but four times?

There was nothing bad said apart from saying fuel consumption will only be around 25mpg. If I get anywhere near that I will be well pleased.

On a good note the did show the rotary, and mention that it is RWD as apposed to the TT AWD, and also say it was more fun than the TT.

I thought the car from most angles looked great, the ride height did look a bit high however, and there did seem quite a bit of body roll. Im not keen on the direct nose-on profile as I think the car looks a bit tall and thin. I think the front lip spoiler and rotary accent will help with this though.

Roll on the next review.

On the shots of the rev counter, was the speed reading in mph or kmph?

As it was a German plated car i would assume it was in kmph.

I am sure it touched 70 and she did say she was in 2nd gear, that would only be approx 44mph. I am sure I read a review by Rotary News here that said the max speed in 2nd was around 68mph.

I didn't here the buzzer sound at 8500rpm, but then again she was talking a lot.

Bloody tivo, crappy silver piece of....

The RX8 was at hte end of the program. The program overshot its officaial listing by 5 minutes. Guess what tivo did.

Luckily I don't trust ITV's post 10 o'clock scheduling and so I watched it as well:D

Managed to catch the stupid thing trying to stop recording. Oh well, technology huh.

Hehe... don't worry... I have 3 different DIVX rips... the high res one is 100% digital and in widescreen at the full res of the transmission.... Don't you get a lot!

Anyway, the FTP server died at 5am with a memory fault... I've brought it back up now, I can't guarantee it'll be stable all day, needs a SIMM replaced! Mirrors please!!!

On the up-side it supports "resume" so you can restart a download after it comes back up!

Good point. I assumed as she was red lining it in second and showing high 60's that it was MPH, but you would expect a Euro car to be KPH.

Was the car LHD as I cant even remember this morning?! If it was LHD it is more likely to be in KPH

It was fantastic to hear the engine at last - not at all whiney like some people have said.

The body roll was more than I expected but she looked like she was trying to drive a dodgem.

What a shame that had to get a Vanessa Feltz (sp?) alike with stupid sunglasses on to review it.

Overall though it made me want the car even more.

The gf watched it this morning while I was travelling to work and phoned me to say she thought it looked really good.

I watched the programme with my wife and our unborn child.

The baby was wiggling about all over the place during the RX-8 segment, more than ever before. I am now even more convinced it is a boy and will be a future rotorist.

Chris

Oh! and the wife thought the car was even sexier than in the photos and other video footage she has seen.

You forgot to mention the top she was wearing which from the back looked like she'd be clawed by a Lion

Download the rivx codec (only, with the v2 player) from here : http://www.divx.com/divx/

The version 5 player comes with adware, so best avoided.

It's not: I'm 67% into the 50Mb version after 2.5 hours. Power failures will be met with ultimate hostility!

The server DOES support resume, so you're OK...

Let me know what you think BTW, the 50meg version is REALLY nice....

I guess you need a client that tells you what the extended message was.

That said, it was probably "Too many users, please try later"

No: cable modem but it's dribbling down the pipe. 83% now.
